CRISPY HONEY ORANGE GLAZED SALMON

Crispy Honey Orange Glazed Salmon image

Crispy Honey Orange Glazed Salmon fillets are pan-fried in the most beautiful honey-orange-garlic sauce, with a splash of soy for added flavour!

Provided by Karina

Categories     Dinner

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons butter,
4 (6-ounce) skinless salmon fillets, ((170 grams each))
1/4 cup fresh orange juice, ((about 1/2 an orange))
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
4 cloves garlic, (crushed or minced)
salt and cracked black pepper, (to taste)
1/2 an orange, (sliced to serve)

Steps:

  • Heat butter (or oil) in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Sear salmon skin-side up for 3-4 minutes. Flip and sear for 2 minutes.
  • Pour in the orange juice and allow to reduce to half the quantity (it takes about 1 minute to reduce down if your pan is hot enough). Add the garlic and cook until fragrant (30 seconds). Move the salmon to the sides of the pan and add in the honey and soy sauce, stirring well to combine all of the flavours together.
  • Bring to a simmer until reduced to a nice syrup (this takes about another 30 seconds to 1 minute), and move the salmon around in the sauce to evenly coat. Remove from heat once the salmon is cooked to your liking.
  • Season with salt and pepper to your tastes. Drizzle with the sauce to serve. Best served over rice, noodles, steamed vegetables or with a salad.

Categories     asian inspired

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
Juice of 1 lime
1 teaspoon Sriracha, optional
2 pounds salmon
1/4 cup peanuts, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil. To make the sauce, whisk together chili sauce, soy sauce, garlic, fish sauce, ginger, lime juice and Sriracha in a small bowl; set aside. Place salmon onto prepared baking sheet and fold up all 4 sides of the foil. Spoon the chili sauce mixture over the salmon. Fold the sides of the foil over the salmon, covering completely and sealing the packet closed. Place into oven and bake until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes. Serve immediately, garnished with peanuts and cilantro, if desired.

Categories     Main Dish Recipes     Seafood Main Dish Recipes     Salmon     Baked Salmon Recipes

Time 1h45m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 pounds salmon fillets, with skin
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pinch ground black pepper
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cups long-grain white rice
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
3 cups water

Steps:

  • Make several shallow slashes in the skinless side of the salmon fillets. Place fillets skin-side down in a glass baking dish. In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, pepper, onion and sesame oil. Pour the liquid over the salmon, cover, and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, water, and dill weed. Cover pan, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook 20 minutes, until rice is tender and water has been absorbed. Allow to stand for 5 minutes before removing lid and fluffing rice with a fork.
  • Remove cover from salmon, and bake the fish and the marinade for about 30 minutes, or until fish can be flaked with a fork. Serve salmon over the rice, and pour sauce over.

CRISPY-SKINNED ORANGE HONEY SALMON

Crispy-Skinned Orange Honey Salmon image

Fresh, Asian-inspired salmon fillets with a crispy skin and an orange, ginger, and honey glaze. Unlike most similar recipes, this one is made without soy sauce and with totally fresh ingredients. The result is a bright, fresh fish with great taste and texture. The fresh ingredients are the star here: Don't substitute with dried, powdered, or frozen ingredients! I served on top of rice and steamed broccoli garnished with green onions.

Provided by Derek Lutz

Categories     World Cuisine Recipes     Asian

Time 1h15m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
¼ cup honey
¼ cup rice vinegar
¼ cup olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
4 skin-on salmon fillets
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Combine orange juice, honey, vinegar, olive oil, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, salt, and pepper in a large resealable plastic bag. Add salmon. Seal and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Place a large cast iron skillet in the oven. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).
  • Carefully remove skillet from oven when it just barely starts to smoke. Add vegetable oil and place salmon fillets, skin-side down, in the skillet.
  • Bake in the hot oven until fish flakes easily with a fork, or to your desired doneness, 5 to 9 minutes. Serve immediately.

CRISPY ASIAN SALMON WITH STIR-FRIED NOODLES, PAK CHOI & SUGAR SNAP PEAS

Crispy Asian salmon with stir-fried noodles, pak choi & sugar snap peas image

Pack your stir-fry with vegetables and top with marinated fish. This recipe cooks enough salmon for lunch the next day

Provided by Jennifer Irvine

Categories     Main course

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 20

2 x 100g salmon fillets (plus 2 more 100g salmon fillets if cooking for Flaked salmon salad lunch - see 'goes well with')
2 tsp reduced salt tamari or soy sauce
2cm piece ginger, peeled and finely chopped or grated
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
2 tbsp lemon or lime juice
1 tsp sesame oil
85g vermicelli rice noodle
2 tsp rapeseed oil
1 tsp sesame oil
1 spring onion, trimmed and thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
½ red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
2cm piece ginger, peeled and finely chopped
100g sugar snap pea
100g pak choi (or spinach)
1 large red pepper, sliced
1 tsp tamari or soy sauce
1 tsp Thai fish sauce
juice ½ lime
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander

Steps:

  • Make the marinade by mixing together all the ingredients. Place the salmon fillets in a small bowl and spoon over the marinade, turning the fish so that it's nicely coated. Cover with cling film and leave to sit for 10 mins (or longer if you have time).
  • Meanwhile, cook the noodles following pack instructions, then drain and sit them in a bowl of cold water.
  • Heat a non-stick frying pan. Add the salmon fillets, skin-side down, and leave for 3 mins. When the fish is slightly crispy, flip over and cook for a further 3 mins on the other side. Just before you remove the fish from the pan, add any remaining marinade and let it sizzle for 10 secs. Place 2 of the fillets, skin-side up, with their juices on a plate and cover with foil to keep warm. Put the other 2 fillets on another plate if using for Flaked salmon salad (see 'goes well with'), cover with foil, leave to cool, then chill.
  • In a frying pan or wok, heat the rapeseed and sesame oils over a high heat. Add the spring onion, garlic, chilli and ginger, and stir constantly for about 1 min. Add the sugar snap peas, pak choi and pepper, and stir for another 1-2 mins, then add the cooked noodles. Toss well, then add the soy sauce, fish sauce and lime juice, and mix until well combined and the pan is sizzling.
  • Remove from the heat and divide between 2 bowls. Top each with a salmon fillet and drizzle over any juices. Sprinkle with coriander and serve.

CRISPY ORANGE-GLAZED SALMON (THAI INSPIRED)

Crispy Orange-Glazed Salmon (Thai Inspired) image

From the magazine Cottage Living 3/2007. I like the way this sounds so it's here for safe keeping. The description in the magazine states that the sweetness of orange juice tempers the heat of the chili pepper and red pepper flakes in this Thai inspired dish, but it still has quite a kick. You can garnish with sprouts, fresh cilantro, carrot and pepper strips, and edamame. Serve over hot rice.

Provided by Oolala

Categories     Rice

Time 55m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

2/3 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
1 small red Thai chile, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 inch piece fresh ginger, about 1 inch, peeled, grated
4 (4 -6 ounce) salmon fillets
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
salt, to taste
fresh ground black pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Stir together the first 6 ingredients in a glass baking dish or shallow bowl.
  • Add salmon and drizzle with 1 tablespoons of the olive oil, turning to evenly coat.
  • Marinate at least 30 minutes.
  • Remove salmon, reserving the marinade, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, and add remaining 1 tablespoons olive oil.
  • Cook salmon 3-4 minutes per side or until fish begins to flake with fork; remove from pan, pour reserved marinade into skillet, and add honey.
  • Heat about 3 minutes or until syrupy.
  • Serve salmon warm over a mound of rice topped with some of the sauce and garnish, if desired.
