Number Of Ingredients 4

Ingredients

1 tube (11 ounces) refrigerated breadsticks
8 smoked sausage links or hot dogs
1/2 to 3/4 cup potato sticks
Ketchup and/or mustard

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350°. Separate dough into strips. Unroll and cut eight strips in half widthwise; set remaining strips aside. Cut sausages in half widthwise. Wrap one piece of dough around each sausage, leaving the rounded end showing. Place seam side down on an ungreased baking sheet. Place reserved breadsticks on baking sheet., Bake 15-17 minutes or until golden brown. Remove bugs to a serving plate and cool 2 minutes., Insert potato sticks into baked dough to resemble legs and antennae. Decorate with ketchup and/or mustard. Serve warm. Save remaining breadsticks for another use.

ENTO. The London-based start-up Ento is banking on the idea that Western consumers will be more likely to embrace the coming age of mass insect ingestion if their meal no longer looks like a creepy-crawly.
LEPSIS. Lepsis doesn’t so much provide edible insects as it facilitates their consumption. Developed based on the idea that a utensil can change consumers’ perceptions of a food—just as knives and plastic spoons can change the perceived taste of cheese and yogurt respectively—the product is actually a stylishly designed dehydrator that cultivates and kills grasshoppers.
WORLD ENTOMOPHAGY. Founded in 2010 by University of Georgia student Harman Singh Johar, World Entomophagy sells organically raised mealworms and crickets, and roughly 20 people around the U.S. are now involved in its operations.
HOTLIX. “The original candy that bugs,” Hotlix has offered confections containing insects, arachnids and other bugs for over 25 years. While suckers containing everything from scorpions to worms may turn some consumers off, the Grover Beach, Calif., the company has become so successful, they’ve even developed an amber “InsectNside” candy to coincide with the Smithsonian’s amber exhibit.

Japanese Giant Hornet. By “giant” we mean about the size of your thumb. If that’s not enough to scare you, these insects can shoot a poison that melts human flesh—directly into your eyeballs.
Bot Fly. The bot fly is found all over the world in various forms with lovely names like horse stomach bot fly and sheep nose bot fly. The flies themselves aren’t much of a problem, but their maggots are.
Siafu ants. Unlike other ant species, army ants don’t create permanent hives. Instead, whole colonies of over a million ants are on a constant march, only stopping long enough for the queen to lay more eggs.
Titan beetle. These beetles look a lot like cockroaches, except that they can grow up to seven inches long. They’re so big and heavy that they can’t fly directly off the ground.
Tongue-eating louse. With a name like that, you probably don’t need much more reason to be creeped out. This creature is technically an isopod, but it’s still plenty creepy.
Cockroaches. They’re not particularly harmful to humans, but seeing a cockroach in your home is still pretty gross. What makes them particularly creepy is their hardiness.
