1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
1 cup milk
8 slices bread
salt to taste
pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, mix tuna and soup. Gradually stir in the milk. Cook 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  • Toast the bread. Pour equal amounts of the tuna mixture over each slice of toasted bread and season with salt and pepper to serve.

My SIL makes this quite often with a side dish of cooked rice and steamed broccoli. I kind of change it to suit my taste and believe it comes out perfect. Everyone finds it very tasty and without the usual pasta. I usually make it with side dish of green peas and spanish rice or simply a side salad.

2 (8 ounce) cans tuna, but drained well (as you prefer oil or in water)
2 (10 ounce) cans condensed cream of celery soup, not mushroom, as celery soup has a better taste with tuna
2 onions, sliced
16 ounces milk
6 -8 large potatoes, peeled, slices, about 1/4 inch
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Butter lightly an oven pan 9X13 size.
  • Heat the oven at: 375°F.
  • Layer the bottom of pan with first layer of raw, sliced potatoes.
  • Add layer of sliced, raw onions and first tin of tuna, carefully spreading the tuna evenly all over.
  • Add a second layer of sliced, raw potatoes, then add last of the onions.
  • Salt & pepper in between.
  • Add the rest of the second can of tuna evenly.
  • Cover with last row of potatoes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the celery soup with milk, mixing well.
  • Pour the soup mixture evenly over dish; cover all potatoes.
  • Cover tightly with foil or Dutch oven cover.
  • Bake for 1 hour at 375°F in center of oven.
  • Uncover, and bake 15 minutes more at 350°F and the sauce/gravy will become just the right thickness--not too thick and not too watery.

4 small sweet potatoes (about 200g each)
185g can tuna in spring water, drained
½ red onion , finely sliced
1 small red chilli , deseeded and chopped
juice 1 lime
6 tbsp Greek yogurt
handful coriander leaves

Steps:

  • Scrub the sweet potatoes and prick all over with a fork. Place on a microwaveable plate and cook on High for 18-20 mins, or until tender. Split in half and place each one, cut-side up, on a serving plate.
  • Flake the drained tuna with a fork and divide between the sweet potatoes. Top with the red onion and chilli, then squeeze over the lime juice. Top with a dollop of yogurt and scatter over the coriander, to serve.

1 small onion, chopped
300 g grated raw potatoes
350 ml fish stock or 350 ml broth
350 ml heavy cream
350 g chunk tuna, drained
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Sauté onion in butter over moderate heat for 3 minutes or until limp.
  • Add the potatoes and fish broth. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 - 7 minutes over moderate heat until the potatoes are tender.
  • Stir in heavy cream, tuna chunks broken into smaller pieces and black pepper and heat through.
  • Serve hot.

It is up to you the type of cheese sauce and the kind of mashed potatoes you use, spice it up, or leave it simple. This is loved by kids and adults in my house. Time based on making cheese sauce and potatoes from scratch.

3 cups thick cheese sauce
425 g tuna in water
1 cup corn kernel
3 cups mashed potatoes
1/2 cup grated cheese
salt and pepper
1 tablespoon chopped chives

Steps:

  • Mix together the cheese sauce, drained and flaked tuna, corn, chives and salt and pepper.
  • Pour into a shallow baking dish (I use a round non stick cake pan).
  • Top with mashed potato.
  • Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  • Bake in a 180 degree oven for 30 minutes or until brown on top and bubbly.

6 large potatoes, scrubbed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise, whole-egg
1/4 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 celery ribs, finely chopped
125 g corn kernels, drained
185 g tuna, in springwater, drained
2 spring onions, sliced
salt and pepper, to season

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 200c/180 if fan forced. Line baking tray with baking paper, place potatoes on the tray, drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes or until golden and tender.
  • Stand potatoes for 5 -10 minutes or until cool enough to handle. Meanwhile, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream and lemon juice in a bowl. Add celery, corn, tuna and spring onion. Season with salt and pepper and stir to combine.
  • Using a small knife, cut a cross in the top of each potato. Gently squeeze the base of each potato to open the top. Place on plates and top with tuna mixture. Enjoy!
