FISH WITH CREAM SAUCE

Fish With Cream Sauce image

Dinner in about 20 minutes? It's totally possible! This fish with cream sauce combines perfectly cooked pan fried cod and a lush, garlicky cream sauce with lots of fresh dill and a touch of lemon. Sure to be a favourite for easy weekday dinners or entertaining with friends and family.

Provided by Dawn | Girl Heart Food

Categories     Main Course

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/4 pounds boneless and skinless cod fillets (4 fillets (each about 5 ounces))
1/2 teaspoon salt (divided)
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (divided)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 large garlic clove (minced)
1/2 cup heavy cream (whipping cream)
1/3 cup low sodium vegetable broth (or chicken broth or seafood broth)
1.5 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (or 1 to 1.5 teaspoons dried dill or dill weed)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Lemon wedges (for serving (optional))

Steps:

  • Pat cod fillets dry of excess moisture with paper towels and season with 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and black pepper.
  • Heat olive oil and butter in a 12-inch non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  • Place cod fillets in the pan. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes on one side.
  • Carefully flip the cod fillets to the other side and continue to cook for another 3 to 5 minutes or until cod is cooked through, is opaque and flakes easily with a fork (insert the tines of a fork into the thickest part of the fish at an angle and twist gently; it should flake easily). Time may vary, depending on the thickness of your fillets.Note: Be gentle flipping, especially if using super fresh fish, as the fillets are quite delicate.
  • Once fillets are done, carefully remove with a spatula, transfer to a plate and set aside.
  • Add garlic to the pan and cook, stirring often, for 1 minute.
  • Pour in heavy cream, broth and remaining 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and black pepper.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring, for 4 to 5 minutes or until the sauce has reduced/thickened and coats the back of a spoon when you draw your finger through it. Taste for seasoning and add more, if necessary, to taste.
  • Once sauce has thickened to your liking, stir in dill, lemon juice and lemon zest.
  • Pour sauce over fish and serve with lemon wedges (if desired). Enjoy!

BAKED COD IN CREAM SAUCE

This baked cod is hands-down my favorite fish dish. It turns out perfectly flaky every time. The flavorful, creamy sauce puts it over the top!

Provided by Erica Walker

Categories     Dinner     Main Course

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 12

6 cod fillets
1 tsp. kosher salt (or to taste)
4 Tbsp. butter (melted)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1/2 c. breadcrumbs (seasoned)
3 Tbsp. butter
3 Tbsp. cornstarch

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400-degrees.
  • Prepare cream sauce (see instructions below) and set aside, keeping warm.

  • Combine melted butter and garlic and brush over fillets, reserving any leftover butter mixture.

  • Remove from oven and serve with potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

6 DELICIOUS CREAM DORY RECIPES THAT NEED TO BE ON YOUR ...

From yummy.ph
  • Cornflake-Crusted Fish. It's a given that a fried fish recipe is the first one you should know. It's fast, tasty, and probably the easiest to get the kids to eat.
  • Baked Fish Fillets. If you've got an oven, this is even easier than frying. All you have to do is season the fish as you desire (Calamansi and fish are a great pairing!)
  • Pesto Cream Cream Dory. This pesto-cream slathered cream dory is a great way to infuse a simply steamed fish with a powerhouse of flavors that just might win the honor of being a great dinner.
  • Italian Fish Stew. Pair even more flavors with your fish by stewing it with a bunch of delicious ingredients. This Italian stew, in particular, is packed with the flavors of the Mediterranean: tomatoes, olives, capers, basil, and white wine.
  • Fish Chowder. When the days become chilly, soup is usually the go-to dish. But even when the days are warm, fish chowder is still a delightful bowl of comfort food.
  • Cream Dory with Coffee Butter. Who'd have thought that coffee would go well with fish? If you didn't then you need to try this particular recipe, especially if you love coffee and butter.

8 WAYS TO MAKE CREAM DORY INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS

From yummy.ph
  • Brush it with (coffee) butter. Butter and fish is a match made in heaven! The creamy butter is perfect as a sauce for fish and it's a common food pairing.
  • Stack flavors and textures. Don't be intimidated by the look of this seemingly fancy looking fish fillet recipe. All it is is a pan-fried cream dory fish fillet topped with pesto.
  • Mix flavors. There are so many flavors that make fish delicious, and sweet and sour is a duo that is timeless for good reason. The sweetness is obviously from sugar but in this case, some brown sugar is used for the added flavor of molasses.
  • Add herbs, and top it with fruit. Take advantage of the many different herbs and spices available at your local supermarket! Fish will just taste better and the aromas will be amazing!
  • Make it extremely crunchy. How do you like your crunchy fish? This recipe takes a cue from those from the United States south and uses cornmeal to add a delicious and tasty crunch to these coated fish fillets!
  • Use fish instead. Gotta love the ingenuity of a recipe that can be used with any protein! Fish is always available in our country and with cream dory being so versatile and available all year, this version of the beef steak or Bistek Tagalog is genius!
  • Spice it up, and cook it differently. Go Asian with this steamed fish omelet that's cooked in a llanera! This flavorful fish recipe is basically an omelet that's been seasoned with a sambal sauce, a spicy chili-garlic sauce, and it's further flavored with coconut milk.
  • Coat it with something unique. Breakfast cornflakes are made for more than just breakfast, and this recipe proves it's versatility. For those days when you run out of breadcrumbs or just want another flavor to your crunchy fish fillets, grind up plain cornflakes and use that to make the crispy coating of these fillets.
