CLASSIC CHERRY DELIGHT

This Classic Cherry Delight comes together in just minutes and is made of three simple layers. If you want a dessert that's not overly sweet yet delicious, this is it!

7 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 9 whole crackers)
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 container cool whip, 8 ounces
1 can cherry pie filling, 21 ounces

Steps:

  • Add the butter to a medium bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds or until melted. Add the graham cracker crumbs and sugar and mix well to combine. Pat the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of a sprayed 8 x 8 baking dish. Set aside.
  • Add the cream cheese to a large bowl. Mix with a mixer until the cream cheese of smooth and free of any lumps. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla and mix well. Add the cool whip and mix until the cool whip and cream cheese are combined, but don't overmix.
  • Spread the filling evenly over the graham cracker crust, using a spoon or offset spatula. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the top and carefully spread it evenly over the filling.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. I like to leave it overnight.
  • Refrigerate leftovers.

This is my mom's recipe. It is a family requested recipe that she usually makes for Christmas. She's even added green food coloring to the cool whip to give it the festive look.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter
8 ounces cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
2 (21 ounce) cans cherry pie filling
8 ounces Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Melt butter, pour into a 9 x 13 dish – add graham cracker crumbs.
  • Press in bottom of 9 x 13 forming a crust.
  • Bake 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar with a mixer until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour on top of cooled cracker crust – smooth out.
  • Pour cans of cherries on top of the cream cheese mixture – then top the cherries with cool whip.

This recipe is so easy, and taste so great! Great for an afternoon snack for the kids, or even a filler-upper until dinner.

  • To top it off, try slices of strawberries, pears, etc. (Optional).

This is another recipe that's been in my family for awhile, my mom had it given to her years ago. It sounds really easy to make if you're needing something whipped up quickly this one might be what you're looking for. I have not made this yet myself, but I've had something similar to this before.

40 saltine crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup nuts, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Line a cookie sheet with foil.
  • Spray with Pam cooking spray.
  • Lay crackers close together on cookie sheet.
  • In a sauce pan, heat brown sugar and butter, blending till melted.
  • Pour melted butter mixture over crackers and bake in a 400 degree oven until bubbly.
  • Top with chocolate chips, and chopped nuts.
  • Let cool before breaking apart.
  • Enjoy!

2 package s (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
1 package (16 oz.) powdered sugar
1 large tub Cool Whip
2 cans cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • 1. Finely crush graham crackers, melt butter; mix together. Press into bottom of 9x13 pan.
  • 2. Mix with mixer the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and Cool Whip. Spread over graham cracker crust. Top with cherry pie filling.
  • 3. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
