6 pounds crab legs (Dungeness crab, king crab, snow crab or a combination of different types)
1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
lemon wedges (optional)

Steps:

  • Place 3 inches of water in a large, deep pot over medium heat. Bring the water to a boil.
  • Crack the crab legs with a seafood cracker.
  • Place the crab legs in the pot and cover.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes until crab is heated through. If you have raw crab, cook for 10-12 minutes until flesh is red/orange and opaque.
  • Drain the crab legs and cover to keep warm.
  • Melt the butter in the pot. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds. Turn off the heat and stir in the salt, pepper and parsley.
  • Return the crab to the pot and toss to coat with the garlic butter. Serve immediately, with lemon wedges if desired.

I ended up getting some snow crab legs on sale at the market. I wanted something a little different from plain steamed, boiled, or grilled crab legs, so I ended up throwing a few things together to make this awesome crab leg dish. Enjoy! This would be great with shrimp as well.

1 pound Snow Crab clusters, thawed if necessary
¼ cup butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ½ teaspoons dried parsley
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Cut a slit, length-wise, into the shell of each piece of crab.
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat; cook the garlic in the butter until translucent; stir in the parsley, salt, and pepper. Continue to heat mixture until bubbling. Add the crab legs; toss to coat; allow to simmer in the butter mixture until completely heated, 5 to 6 minutes.

1 1/2-2 lbs frozen king crab legs
1 lb spaghetti
1/4 cup butter
5 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • heat a large stockpot of salted water to a boil over high heat; add crab legs; cover. Cook until crab is cooked through, 6 minutes; transfer crab to a colander but don't drain the water out of the pot, keep it boiling.
  • Add spaghetti to the crab water; cook according to package directions. Drain; keep warm. Meanwhile, crack crab legs into smaller, more manageable pieces.
  • Melt 3 T. of the butter in a large skillet or wok. Add garlic; cook, stirring, until garlic is slightly browned and aromatic, about 2 minutes. Add crab legs and parsley to skillet; toss to coat the shells and the meat with the hot butter and garlic. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  • Melt remaining 1 T. butter in the skillet over medium heat. Add cooked pasta, tossing until well coated. Transfer pasta to a platter; top with reserved crab.

1 can Beer, bottle or can
1/4 cup Old Bay, enough to make water appear "muddy"
1 Lemon
4 tsp Garlic, minced
1/2 cup Butter

Steps:

  • Crab LegsBring a large stock pot of water to a boil. It's best to only fill the stock pot about half way to allow for a rise in the water level when you add the crab legs. Add beer and enough Old Bay to give the water a "muddy" appearance. Boil crab legs for 10 minutes. Drain crab legs and place on a large platter or cookie sheet. Squeeze lemon juice over crab legs and sprinkle with Old Bay. ButterAdd about 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and 2 tablespoons of butter to a ramekin for each person. Microwave ramekins in 20 second intervals, swirling in between, until the butter melts. Top with Old Bay if desired.

¼ cup seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®), or to taste
1 pound small red potatoes
2 pounds king crab legs
2 cups chopped carrots
1 ½ cups chopped celery
12 pearl onions
1 pound spicy sausage links, cut into rounds
4 ears corn, husked
2 pounds unpeeled shrimp

Steps:

  • Bring 6 quarts water to a boil in a large stewing pot; add seafood seasoning. Cook potatoes in the seasoned water for 15 minutes.
  • Bring a separate pot of water to a boil; add seafood seasoning to taste. Cook crab legs until meat is tender, about 10 minutes.

3lb snow crab legs
1 cup water
2 1/4 sticks of unsalted butter butter
Juice of one lemon
8 garlic cloves minced
1tsp smoked paprika
2tsp cajun seasoning
1tsp white sugar
1/2tsp Italian seasoning
1tsp old bay seasoning
parsley for garnish

Steps:

  • Put water and a steaming basket in a large pot or pan. Large enough to hold the crab legs. Bring to a boil. Add the crab legs, cover and let steam for 7 minutes.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan or skillet on medium-high heat. I like to skim off some of the white foam that forms on top, so the butter is a little clarified but not all the way. This is optional.
  • Add the garlic & seasonings. Whisk to incorporate. Let cook for a few minutes.
  • Remove the crab legs and place them on a large plate for serving. I like to use a baking dish. Pour the garlic butter over the crab legs, reserve about 1/4 cup for dipping on the side if you'd like. Sprinkle parsley on top.
  • Eat and enjoy! I like to slice a few lemons to have on the side as well.

1 kg (2.2 pounds) crab
1/2 cup 113 g (1 stick) unsalted butter
4 bay leaves
5 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoons cayenne
1/2 tablespoon red chilly flakes
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon coriander powder
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
1 teaspoon pepper powder
Salt to taste
2 Lime (, cut into wedges)

Steps:

  • Wash the cleaned crab a couple of times in cold water and keep it aside.
  • Bring a pot of water to boil. (Use a pot large enough to hold all the crabs or else cook in two batches)
  • Once the water boils, add the washed crab, 1 lime, 2 bay leaves, and cook till it turns pink.
  • Drain and keep aside.
  • Melt butter in a heavy-bottomed pot large enough to hold all the crabs.
  • Turn the heat to medium-low until the butter melts and take care so that the butter doesn't burn.
  • Add the bay leaves and the garlic and cook till you can smell the aroma of garlic.
  • Now add the spices (paprika, cayenne, coriander, cinnamon) and stir for a minute to get rid of the raw flavor of spices. Add the vinegar, pepper, and salt. Taste and adjust the flavor if needed. (Be careful when doing so as the butter will be very hot.)
  • Place the drained crab in a big bowl and add the sauce. Toss it to coat well.utter.
  • Optional: Add the crabs to the pot with butter sauce. Cover and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring it every five minutes and coating all the crabs with sauce.
  • Transfer the crabs onto a serving plate. Serve with fresh cut limes and sauce in a bowl.
