Steps:
- In a large skillet, cook (scramble) the ground chuck and onions together. Drain the grease off. Add the tomato juice, chile sauce, chili powder and brown sugar (and optional BBQ sauce if you want it) to the cooked meat in the skillet. Simmer the chili until it is as thick as you want it. You may add the sprinkle of corn meal to help thicken up the chili if desired. Spoon over your hot dogs and remember the days of sitting at DQ enjoying a meal. ** You may also cook the beef and onions on the stove top and when you want to add the other ingredients add it all to a crock pot and let it cook 1-2 hours.

Steps:
- Put a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil in medium sauce pan. On medium-high heat, saute onion until translucent, then add garlic. Stir for about a minute, then add ground beef. As beef begins to brown, use a potato masher to grind up the beef into small bits.
- Once brown, add in the rest of the ingredients (if your beef produced a lot of grease, you may want to strain some of that out first before adding the rest of the ingredients).
- Give it all a good stir to combine then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Do a taste test at this point to see if it has enough salt. If want, you can transfer the chili over to a Crock Pot and put it on the keep warm setting.
- Cook's Note: This chili is super-duper wonderful on tater tots and french fries. You gotta try it if you have some leftover chili. Throw some cheddar cheese on top and you gotta whole new meal!

A&W CHILI DOG COPYCAT
I haven't had an A&W chili dog for years, but from what I can remember, this tastes just like it. This is listed as one serving, but the sauce makes enough for about 10 servings unless you use more on your dog like I do. The sauce can be frozen for future use.

HOT DOG CHILI
Everyone LOVES this chili when I make it! It is sweet and goes well with things other than hot dogs. We sometimes have it with fritos, cheese and sour cream. Simple to make with minimal ingredients!

JUST RIGHT HOT DOG CHILI
I live hundreds of miles from the 2, best, hot dog chili's I know of -- from western PA's Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe chain and from a little stand in the parking lot at the Lowes in Rehoboth, DE. So here's my version of the perfect topping for those hot dogs. I think I got it Just Right. But if you want it hotter go ahead and use 2 more cans of tomatoes with green chilis instead of the regular diced tomatoes.
