Serving a hot punch is difficult unless it is placed over a heating element. Even then, hot drinks are better when served as soon as they are prepared.

Ingredients

1 fifth Barbados rum
2 lemons
4 ounces sugar
3 pints boiling water
1 fifth brandy
1 pint Sherry
1 teaspoon ginger
Grated nutmeg

Steps:

Macerate the lemon rinds and the sugar in a small earthenware bowl. Add the lemon juice and ginger. Mix well and place in a larger earthenware bowl. Then add, in order, the rum, brandy, Sherry and boiling water. Mix well, warm for 20 minutes, and serve it topped with nutmeg.

Ingredients

1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup red cinnamon candies (the red hot kind)
1 -2 cinnamon stick
6 -8 whole cloves
3 cups cranberry juice cocktail
3 cups pineapple juice
3 -4 cups water

Steps:

Run through the normal perking cycle.
I usually increase this as I have a party perk that holds 40 cups.

COLD DUCK PUNCH

When I was little my mom and dad had lots of parties especially at the holidays. With upwards of 70 people the easiest thing to serve was punch. This is Mom's concoction. The guys love it too. NOTE: For a festive look and to keep the punch even colder ladle some of the punch into a jello mold and freeze the mold until solid. When you are ready to serve, unmold the ice in warm, not hot, water on a plate as to not make a splash. Then using a spatula take the ice mold off the plate and float it on top of the punchbowl.

Ingredients

6 liters 7-Up soda (or Ginger Ale)
32 ounces pineapple juice
64 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
16 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate
2 (750 ml) bottles sparkling wine (preferably Cold Duck)

Steps:

Soften or thaw the can of orange juice.
In a punchbowl, start to combine the can of juice, 7UP
Add Cranberry juice cocktail and pineapple juice.
Using a hand mixer or hand blender, start to mix the liquid until the juice is completely dissolved.
Add the Cold Duck and blend again.
Chill until ready to serve (at least 4 hours).
Amount of servings depends on how large your glasses are.
Total time depends on how cold your refrigerator is. Also, you can make this the day before you are going to serve it.
For leftovers, put the punch into one of the 7UP bottles, a carafe or jar.
Cover tightly.
Refrigerate for up to 5 days.
Also great for wedding or baby showers.
*If 7up is too sweet for you substitute Ginger Ale.
