This is one of our favorites...easy to throw together for company. I've been making it for years, really can't remember how it originated. I promised this year...I wouldn't wait for the Christmas Holidays before I made it again.

Ingredients

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 (15 1/2 ounce) can whole berry cranberry sauce (*)
1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted
assorted cracker

Steps:

*Duringthe Holiday times,left over fresh cranberry sauce is great!
In a small mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, honey and cinnamon until smooth.
Spread onto a serving dish or plate.
In a bowl, stir cranberry sauce until it reaches a spreading consistency; spread over cream cheese mixture (leaving about 1 inch around sides of cheese showing-- makes it pretty) Sprinkle with almonds.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.
Serve with crackers.

This easy recipe is a great starter for Christmas dinner. It will hold over your guests until the turkey and ham are ready!

Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter
2 cups thinly sliced onions
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind
16 crackers
8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese

Steps:

Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and sauté 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden and tender.
Stir in vinegar, cranberries, sugar, salt, and orange rind; Cook, stirring occasionally, 2 to 4 minutes or until liquid is reduced to about 2 tablespoons.
Spread cream cheese onto the crackers.
Top each with cranberry compote.
