An easy one bowl Chocolate Bread filled with chocolate chips.

175 grams (1 and 1/4 cup) plain flour or all purpose flour
40 grams (1/2 cup) cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
90 grams (1/2 cup) brown sugar
50 grams (1/4 cup) caster sugar or granulated sugar
115 grams (1/2 cup or 1 stick) unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
180 ml (3/4 cup) buttermilk*
110 grams (3/4 cup) chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Grease and line your 9 by 5 inch loaf pan with baking or parchment paper. Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F) standard / 160 C (320 F) fan-forced.
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add sugars and gently stir.
  • In the microwave, heat the butter in a large heatproof bowl until just melted, stirring in between 20 second bursts. Add your vanilla and eggs to your butter and whisk gently until combined.
  • Make a well in the middle of your dry ingredients, add wet ingredients along with buttermilk. Very gently fold the mixture using a spatula or wooden spoon until the mixture is just combined - be careful not to over mix. Add 75 grams (1/2 cup) of chocolate chips to the batter.
  • Pour mixture into prepared tin and sprinkle extra 35 grams (1/4 cup) of chocolate chips on top. Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack.

1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add buttermilk; mix well. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in chocolate chips and pecans. , Pour into a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

Number Of Ingredients 12

4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup baking cocoa
2 tablespoons sugar
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup water
1/2 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter
1 large egg, room temperature
Optional: Baking cocoa and/or confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine 1-1/4 cups flour, cocoa, sugar, yeast, salt and baking soda. In a saucepan, heat the water, milk, chocolate chips and butter; stir until chocolate is melted. Cool to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup flour and egg; beat on high for 2 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Shape into loaves. Place in 2 greased 8x4-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour., Bake at 375° until browned, 25-30 minutes. Remove from pans to cool on wire racks. Dust with baking cocoa and/or confectioners' sugar if desired.

1 round loaf of walnut bread
1 pound bitter chocolate
Sweet butter, to coat the bread

Steps:

  • Slice the walnut bread thin into 8 slices. Heat a large nonstick skillet or a griddle over moderate heat. Butter 1 side of each bread slice, then put 4 slices, buttered side down, on a work surface. Cut chocolate into chunks, thin enough to fit in a sandwich. Place on the bread, cover with another slice of walnut bread and butter the side facing up. Grill on both sides, about 3 to 5 minutes each. Serve warm.

One 15.25-ounce box chocolate cake mix
1/4 cup oil
4 ripe bananas, mashed
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups peanut butter chips
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons peanut butter
3 to 4 tablespoons warm milk or water

Steps:

  • For the banana bread: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray two 9-by-5-inch loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Combine the cake mix, oil, mashed bananas, eggs and 1/2 cup water in a large bowl and mix with a hand mixer or whisk until well blended, about 2 minutes. Fold in the peanut butter chips. Evenly divide the batter between the 2 prepared loaf pans.
  • Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 40 to 50 minutes. Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool on a cooling rack.
  • For the peanut butter glaze: Combine the confectioners' sugar, peanut butter and 3 tablespoons of the warm milk in a bowl and whisk until smooth. It should be about as thick as pancake batter; if it's too thick, just add a little more milk.
  • Pour some of the glaze over each loaf and let set for about 10 minutes. Slice and serve.

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 cup milk
1/3 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup walnuts, chopped
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pitted dates or 1/2 cup dried apricot (optional)
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350º.
  • Lightly grease and cocoa pans; tap out excess cocoa.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together cocoa, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, using a whisk or an electric mixer, blend together sugar, egg, milk, oil and vanilla.
  • Slowly add in the dry ingredients, beating just until combined.
  • Stir in walnuts, chocolate chips, and dates.
  • Turn batter into the baking pans, sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips.
  • Bake 55 to 60 minutes for a large loaf, about 25 minutes for mini loaves or until tester inserted in bread comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes, take out of pan and cool completely on the rack.

A recipe (originally by Ann Tremont) my mother put in a cookbook that I have modified quite a bit. Every time I bring this to work, everyone wants a piece (and there's not enough to go around).

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup diced walnuts
2/3 cup mini chocolate chip
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large ripened bananas
1/2 cup butter
2 whole eggs

Steps:

  • Hand mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, walnuts, chocolate chips, and vanilla extract in mixing bowl until chocolate chips and walnuts are evenly spread out throughout mixture.
  • In another bowl, mash bananas and add to the main mixing bowl.
  • Soften the butter (I microwave for 20 seconds) and add to the main mixing bowl.
  • Add two whole eggs to main mixing bowl.
  • Mix all ingredients together by hand until it has a batter-like consistency.
  • Pour into greased loaf pan.
  • Let mixture set for at least 20 minutes before baking (Preheat the oven to 325°F).
  • Bake at 325°F for 65 minutes (may take longer depending on the oven and altitude).
  • When finished baking, it is best to let it set overnight before serving.
