1/2 cup unsalted sweet cream butter, melted
1/2 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cups pecans, chopped
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp corn starch
1/8 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
2 7 oz jars marshmallow creme
6 arge egg whites, room temp
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips for topping

Steps:

  • Crust Directions:1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees2. In a large bowl combine the melted butter, flour, brown sugar and pecans with a fork3. Push crust into a 9 inch pie dish and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or just until the crust begins to brownChocolate creme directions1.Using a medium sauce pan, combine the milk and chocolate chips2.Place sauce pan over high heat and gradually stir until melted, about 1-2 minutes3.In a large bowl, mix together the egg yolk, and sugar until the eggs turn a pale yellow4.Mix in the cornstarch, salt, and vanilla until combined5.Gradually combine the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Make sure you are whisking the egg mixture while pouring the chocolate mixture into it to avoid scrambling the eggs6.Pour the combined mixture back into the sauce pan and place on the stove on medium to high heat and bring to a boil while gradually whisking the mixture.7.Remove from heat and whisk for about 2 minutes8.Pour chocolate creme into the baked pie crust9.Cover the chocolate creme with plastic wrap and place into the fridge for 5 hoursMarshmallow Meringue Directions:1.In a large bowl, scoop the marshmallow fluff into the bowl and set aside2.Using a standing mixer, beat the egg whites, salt and cream of tarter until foamy.3.Gradually beat in the sugar into the egg whites until stiff peaks form4.Gently fold in the egg whites into the marshmallow fluff until fully incorporated5.Spoon half of the marshmallow meringue into a piping bag and the other half onto the top of the pie6.Spread evenly with a knife7.Pipe meringue all across the top of the pie8.Preheat oven to 350 degrees or you can use a kitchen flame torch9.Using the oven, place pie in middle rack for 5-8 minutes or until the meringue is lightly browned10.Using a flame torch, lightly toast the meringue11. 1 jar (7 oz.) JET-PUFFED Marshmallow Creme, divided
1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding
1 cup cold milk
1 chocolate cookie crumb crust (6 oz.)
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Steps:

  • Microwave 4 oz. chocolate in medium microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 to 1-1/2 min. or until melted, stirring after 1 min. Add cream cheese, half the marshmallow creme, dry pudding mix and milk; beat with mixer until blended. Pour into crust.
  • Beat remaining marshmallow creme with COOL WHIP in separate bowl until blended; spread over chocolate layer in crust.
  • Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Meanwhile, use remaining chocolate to make chocolate curls. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Garnish pie with chocolate curls before serving.

¾ cup white sugar
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
3 egg whites
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
6 tablespoons white sugar

Steps:

  • Mix together sugar, cocoa, corn starch and salt in a medium saucepan. Gradually mix in milk. Cook and stir over medium high heat until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat to medium low; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove pan from heat. Stir about one cup of the hot filling into the egg yolks; mix back into the custard. Return saucepan to heat, and bring to a gentle boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, and stir in vanilla. Pour hot filing into crust.
  • In a clean bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar, and continue to beat until stiff and glossy. Spread evenly over hot filling, sealing meringue to crust.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden.

12 whole chocolate graham crackers, roughly broken
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
1 stick unsalted butter
8 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cold heavy cream
2/3 cup marshmallow cream
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar
Shaved chocolate, for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Make the crust: Pulse the graham crackers and granulated sugar in a food processor until finely ground. Add the melted butter and pulse a few times until combined. Press the mixture into the bottom and up the side of a 9-inch pie plate, making a thicker rim around the edge. Bake until the top edge is firm and the bottom is dry, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool completely.
  • Make the filling: Melt the butter and chocolate in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth. Transfer to a medium bowl and let cool 5 minutes. Whisk in the granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt until smooth. Whisk in the flour until combined.
  • Pour the filling into the cooled crust. Bake until the filling is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool completely.
  • Make the topping: Combine the heavy cream, marshmallow cream and confectioners' sugar in a food processor and pulse, scraping down the processor, until the mixture is thick. Spoon the topping onto the center of the pie. Top with shaved chocolate.

I spotted this recipe in the July 2010 Best Recipes cookbooklet, Kraft Philadelphia Desserts and More, & the chocoholic in me couldn't resist! Preparation time does not inclued the 2 hours or more needed for the assembled pie to set & firm up in the refrigerator. NOTE: The recipe actually calls for 4 ounces of cream cheese, but RecipeZaar doesn't recognize that amount, so, reduce that ingredient amount accordingly!

4 (1 ounce) bittersweet chocolate squares
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme, divided
1 (4 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup milk
9 inches Oreo cookie pie crusts
1 cup Cool Whip Topping, thawed
1 (1 ounce) bittersweet chocolate square, for chocolate curls

Steps:

  • In a medium size microwaveable bowl, on high, microwave 4 chocolate squares for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until melted, stirring after 1 minute.
  • To the melted chocolate add ONLY 4 OUNCES (NOT the 8 ounces!) of cream cheese, half of the marshmallow creme, the dry pudding mix & the milk, beating with a mixer until well blended, then spoon into the crust.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the last half of the marshmallow creme & the Cool Whip until well blended, then spread over the chocolate layer.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm, then, if desired, use 1 square of chocolate to make chocolate curls & arrange them on top of the pie.
  • To make chocolate curls, microwave the chocolate square on high for a few seconds or just until you can smudge the chocolate with your thumb.
  • Slowly pull a vegetable peeler along the bottom of the square to make a curl, then repeat to make additional curls.

2.5 cups crushed graham crackers
8 tablespoons melted butter
4 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
4 large egg yolks
4 large egg yolks
1 tsp. LorAnn Alcohol-Free Vanilla
3.5 oz. chopped dark chocolate bar
3 tablespoons cold butter
4 large egg whites
1 cup granulated sugar
1 dram (tsp.) LorAnn Marshmallow Super Strength Flavor
¼ tsp. cream of tarter

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  • 2. Combine butter and graham crackers until it looks like wet sand.
  • 3. Press firmly in 9-inch pie pan.
  • 4. Bake for 10 minutes.
  • 5. Let cool while making filling.
  • 1. In a large saucepan, mix dry ingredients until cohesive.
  • 2. Slowly mix in heavy cream until all lumps are dissolved.
  • 3. Add sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks, and vanilla. Stir until combined.
  • 4. Add in chopped chocolate bar.
  • 5. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the consistency of pudding.
  • 6. Pull off heat and stir in butter.
  • 7. Spoon into graham cracker crust, slowly spreading out until level with crust.
  • 8. Cool in refrigerator for 3 hours.
  • 1. Make a double boiler: take a saucepan and fill with a small amount of water, place a heat-safe bowl onto the pan, making sure the bottom does not touch the water.
  • 2. Add egg whites and sugar to the bowl and place your "double boiler" on medium-high heat.
  • 3. Stir egg and sugar mixture constantly, bringing the mixture up to 175° F.
  • 4. Remove from heat and take bowl off of the pot, placing on a heat-safe surface.
  • 5. Add in Marshmallow Flavor and cream of tartar.
  • 6. Using a hand mixer, beat on low until white and glossy. Then increase the speed to medium and beat until stiff peaks form.
  • 7. Gently scoop onto the top of the pie, using a spoon to swirl a pattern. Using a kitchen torch, gently toast the meringue until it's golden brown.
  • 8. Serve immediately.

We've tried a bunch of chocolate pie recipes from here, but none can hold a candle to this one that I grew up with from the Foods a la Louisiane book (from the Louisiana Women's Farm Bureau). It's easy, not too sweet and inexpensive. Also, using a high quality vanilla makes a huge difference.

3/4 cup sugar
6 tablespoons flour
6 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups milk
3 beaten egg yolks
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cooked 9 inch pie shell
3 egg whites (room temperature for best results)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Filling: Combine sugar, flour, cocoa and salt in a saucepan.
  • Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.

1/2 cup milk
1/2 pint whipping cream (or 8 oz. Cool Whip)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 dash salt
3 chocolate candy bars, shaved and divided
1 graham cracker crust (store bought works well)

Steps:

  • Melt marshmallows in milk in double boiler.
  • When it is smooth, remove and cool.
  • Whip cream until very stiff (or start with Cool Whip).
  • Add salt and vanilla.
  • Fold the whipped cream/Cool Whip into marshmallow mixture.
  • Add shaved chocolate, reserving 2 tablespoons of chocolate for top of pie.
  • Place mixture in pie crust and refrigerate for at least an hour.
  • This pie is very good for several days in the refrigerator if kept covered.
