1 cup margarine
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 (300 g) package milk chocolate chips
1 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Steps:

  • Combine flour and sugars.
  • Mix in margarine until thoroughly blended.
  • Add egg yolks and vanilla.
  • Mix until smooth OR blend in food processor until mixture comes together.
  • Press with floured fingers in 10 by 15 by 1/2-inch cookie sheet with sides.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 13 to 18 minutes or until light golden.
  • Cool slightly, about 20 minutes.
  • Spread melted chocolate over base; sprinkle nuts on top.
  • Press in lightly.
  • Cool until chocolate sets.
  • Cut into squares or triangles.

1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Combine almonds and coconut.
  • Spread in a thin layer over bottom of a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan.
  • Melt butter or margine in a saucepan.
  • Stir in the rest of the ingredients.
  • Cook, without stirring until mixture comes to soft crack stage, 290 degrees F.
  • Remove from heat and pour in a thin stream evenly over almonds and coconut.
  • Cool.
  • Break into pieces.
  • Store in an air-tight container.

1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup

Steps:

  • Line an 8-in. square pan with foil; butter the foil with 1/2 tablespoon butter. Set aside., Spread the sides of a heavy saucepan with 1/2 tablespoon butter. 1-1/2 teaspoons plus 1/2 cup butter, divided
3/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1-1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
3/4 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Line a 13x9-in. pan with foil. Grease the foil with 1-1/2 teaspoons butter. Spread coconut evenly into prepared pan; set aside. , In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water and corn syrup. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Add remaining butter; cook and stir until butter is melted.
