Slow Cooker Chai image

Easy version of chai tea, using whole spices and sweetened condensed milk. To vary the flavor, try adding a bit of star anise, fennel, allspice, vanilla bean, or nutmeg. For a sweeter tea, stir in a bit of brown sugar.

3 ½ quarts water
15 slices fresh ginger, peeled
15 green cardamom pods, split open and seeded
25 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
3 whole black peppercorns
8 black tea bags
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • Pour water into the crock of a slow cooker. Stir in the ginger, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and peppercorns. Turn to High; simmer for 8 hours.
  • Steep tea bags in the hot spiced water for 5 minutes. Strain tea into a clean container. Stir in sweetened condensed milk; serve hot.

This is a sweet and tangy dish and it couldn't be easier. The chicken and sauce are particularly delicious when served with rice or noodles. Enjoy!

3 lb skinned drumsticks (though you may wish to use breasts if you prefer white meat)
1 tsp lemon herb pepper seasoning (or any multi-herb seasoning such as spike/mrs. dash and pepper)
1 can(s) pitted, dark sweet cherries (drained)
1 bottle chili sauce (12 ounces)
1/2 c brown sugar (packed)

Steps:

  • 1. Sprinkle chicken evenly with herb/pepper seasoning, then place chicken in crockpot.
  • 2. In bowl, combined drained cherries, chili sauce, and brown sugar. Pour over chicken.
  • 3. Cook on low 5-6 hours or 3-4 hours on high.
  • 4. Serve with sauce.
  • 5. NOTE: You may wish to thicken sauce in pan with 1 tbsp cornstarch. Cook on medium and stir until mixture begins to boil and thicken.

15 slices fresh gingerroot (about 3 ounces)
3 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
25 whole cloves
15 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
3 whole peppercorns
3-1/2 quarts water
8 black tea bags
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • Place first 5 ingredients on a double thickness of cheesecloth. Gather corners of cloth to enclose seasonings; tie securely with string. Place spice bag and water in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 8 hours. Discard spice bag., Add tea bags; steep, covered, 3-5 minutes according to taste. Discard tea bags. Stir in milk; heat through. Serve warm.

1 cup frozen pitted cherries
1 cup frozen chopped onion
2 chai tea teabags
1/2 cup cherry preserves
1/2 cup port wine
hot cooked egg noodles (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat broiler. Line a baking sheet with
  • aluminum foil; set aside. Trim fat from chicken.
  • Place chicken thighs, skin sides up, on prepared
  • baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Broil 6 inches
  • from heat for 10 minutes or until skin is golden
  • and begins to crisp (this step may be omitted,
  • but it produces a better-flavored dish).
  • In a 4 to 5 quart slow cooker, layer cherries,
  • onion, and tea bags. Add chicken. In a small

2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
2 tablespoons dried Italian salad dressing
1/2 cup sherry wine
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed

  • Wash chicken breast , dry with paper towels, and brush melted butter over chicken.
  • Place in slow cooker, and add remaining ingredients.

I don't remeber where I got this recipe but everyone in my family loves it ! It extremely easy and now that my sons are grown and bringing home potential daughter in laws I love to tease them about my "secret" chicken recipe they can't have unless they become family. Oh, and the lemon at the beginning is optional . I incuded it to be true to the recipe but often don't use it.

6 -8 chicken breasts (bone in is fine)
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can Campbell's condensed cream of celery soup
cooking sherry
lemon juice
wide egg noodles
celery salt

Steps:

  • Dump all cans of soup into crock pot.
  • Fill one empty can of soup 3/4 full of sherry
  • Add to soup and mix well.
  • Rinse chicken breasts. Pat dry.
  • Dip breast into lemon juce and sprinkle with celery salt.
  • Place in soup mixture .
  • Cover cook aprox 5 hours
  • Serve over egg noodles.

  • Put everything in a large heavy cooking pot or Dutch Oven, except the cilantro and almonds. Mix to combine. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Lower to a very low simmer. Cover the pot and cook for 2 1/2 – 3 hours, until the chicken is fall-apart tender. Check after 90 minutes and add a little water (1/4 cup or so) if the pot is looking dry.
  • Put everything in the slow cooker, except the cilantro and almonds. Mix to combine. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
  • Remove bones, thyme sprigs and cinnamon stick. Stir to break up chicken so it has the consistency of pulled chicken. Serve over couscous or quinoa, topped with cilantro and toasted almonds.
