Vegemite is an Australian food icon, which can be consumed daily. It is a spread made mainly from concentrated yeast extract that is leftover from the beer brewing process, but that doesn't make it alcoholic.
1/2 teaspoon butter or 1/2 teaspoon margarine, Generous serve is recommended
Steps:
Toast your favourite variety of bread, butter it generously and spread a thin layer of Vegemite on it. (Reminder, this is very flavoursdome stuff so you don't need to use much at all).
Other variations include:.
- vegemite on toast with cheese, then grill to melt.
- vegemite with cheese and tomato, then grill.

Cut breadstick into 3cm thick slices on the diagonal, but not all the way through.
Spread each cut side of bread alternately with butter then Vegemite and place in a piece of cheese. Continue until each split has Vegemite and cheese in each. Wrap in foil and bake at 180°C fan-forced for 10 minutes.
Unwrap the top of the foil, to expose the top of the breadstick, and return to the oven for a further 5 minutes.
Serve immediately.
