Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup cold water
1 package (12 ounces) pre-cut cantaloupe (recommended: Ready Pac)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 lime, juiced plus 1 lime, sliced for garnish
Ice cubes
Melon vodka
Melon liqueur (recommended: Midori), optional

Steps:

  • Chill 4 martini glasses.
  • In a blender, add water, cantaloupe, sugar, and lime. Puree in blender until liquid consistency. Strain into a measuring cup. Fill a martini shaker with ice cubes. Pour in 1 part melon vodka to 2 parts cantaloupe juice. Shake vigorously.
  • To serve, pour into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with a slice of lime or drizzle lemon liqueur over the top and let sink to the bottom.

I love Cantaloupe Martinis! Most bars make it with orange juice but I have made it with pureed cantaloupe and it really makes a big difference. Use premium quality vodka for the best martini. Enjoy!

1 3/4 ounces watermelon liqueur
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
2 ounces cantaloupe juice or 2 ounces cantaloupe, pureed in food processor
cherries, garnish
cantaloupe, garnish

Steps:

  • Pour all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish with a cherry and/or cantaloupe cube.

The chilling directions alone are worth the price of admission. And the ratio of 5:1 gin to vermouth is right on. Especially because you pour the vermouth out! Mmmm!!!

1 cup crushed ice, plus extra for chilling glass
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
2 1/2 ounces gin
1 olive (I prefer a twist of lemon)

Steps:

  • Place some crushed ice into the martini glass you will be serving in, and set aside.
  • Place the 1 cup of crushed ice into a cocktail shaker. Pour in the vermouth and swirl it around, making as much contact as possible with the ice. Using a strainer, pour the vermouth out. Add the gin and stir well to combine.
  • Remove the ice from your serving glass and add the twist or olive. Using the strainer, pour the gin into the serving glass.
  • I admit that, since I have gotten older, I sometimes add a little of the crushed ice to my glass. Makes it easier to have the second one.
