14 WAYS TO USE CALENDULA + GUT HEALING TEA RECIPE
From rusticfarmlife.com
- Fresh. This is probably the easiest way to use the flowers- just pinch them off and enjoy them in salads, over eggs, or as a garnish. The petals alone are beautiful when sprinkled over salads, used to color eggs, or in a tea!
- Ice Cubes. All edible flowers can be made into ice cubes. Simply place the flowers face down into the ice cube sections and fill them in with water. Allow them to fully freeze and enjoy in iced water, sun tea, or flavored water to stay cool all summer long!
- Sun Tea. Add the fresh flowers directly into a sun tea with lemon balm, mint, and even fresh fruit! Find my favorite recipe for Sun Tea here. Skincare recipes!
- Infused oil. Calendula makes a beautiful yellow-infused oil. It is high in resins which are soluble in oil and blend well in an infused oil. They are a sign of a healthy plant and are anti-fungal and mildly antiseptic as well.
- Herbal Salve. Herbal salves are fantastic for dry skin in winter, eczema, dry elbows or knees, and especially nice for your hands after working in the garden, plus more!
- Homemade Herbal Lotion. Take your herbal salve one step further by turning it into a lotion! This is very simple to do by adding your salve base into a large measuring bowl and whipping it with any combination of distilled water, aloe vera gel, or witch hazel.
- Flower Toner Recipe. Calendula is perfect for my favorite flower toner recipe in combination with my Tea Tree Facial Cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling firm and clean!
- Facial Steam Recipe. A facial steam does not need to be a fancy, once-a-year (or once in a lifetime!) experience. Try this simple recipe at home to enjoy healthier skin!
- Soap. Make soap with infused calendula oil to reap all of the skin benefits of this amazing herb. Calendula soap is especially beautiful when sprinkled with calendula petals on top as it dries.
- Anti-itch Spray. A mentor of mine uses calendula tinctured in high-proof alcohol as an itch relief spray. She infuses it into high-proof alcohol and sprays it directly on insect bites to take away the itch.
