I found this recipe on The Food Network website, courtesy of chef Alton Brown. Simple to make, though a bit pricier than your regular burgers, these are fantastic. Appropriately named, these "steakburgers" are so flavorful they need no more than the kosher salt for seasoning.

8 ounces chuck, trimmed,cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
8 ounces sirloin, trimmed,cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3 slices of your favorite cheese (optional)
3 kaiser rolls, lightly toasted

Steps:

  • In separate batches, pulse the chuck and sirloin in a food processor 10 times.
  • Combine the chuck, sirloin, and kosher salt in a large bowl.
  • Form the meat into 5 oz patties.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Place the hamburger patties in the pan.
  • For medium-rare burgers, cook the patties for 4 minutes on each side.
  • For medium burgers, cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side.
  • Flip burgers only once during cooking.
  • If adding cheese, top burgers with cheese last few minutes of cooking.
  • Serve on toasted Kaiser rolls.

bun, toasted
mayonnaise (optional)
fresh ground black pepper (optional)

Steps:

  • In separate batches, pulse the chuck and the sirloin in a food processor 10 times. Combine the chuck, sirloin, and kosher salt in a large bowl. Form the meat into 5-ounce patties.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Place the hamburger patties in the pan. For medium-rare burgers, cook the patties for 4 minutes on each side. For medium burgers, cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side. Flip the burgers only ONCE during cooking.
  • If desired, spread mayonnaise on a toasted bun and top with some freshly ground black pepper. Add your delicious burger and enjoy!

1 lb ground sirloin
1/2 lb salami, ground
2 tablespoons steak sauce
tomatoes, boullion
garlic powder
cumin
chili powder
pepper
sea salt
i vidalia onion

Steps:

  • envelope onion soup mix.
  • mix meat and seasomings and patty into burgers, grill until desired doneness.
  • Take onion bun and smear with butter, lay on grill for about 1 minute. Put burger on bun.
  • Ginger's favorite toppings.
  • Pepperjack cheese.
  • alfalfa sprouts.
  • Ketchup.
  • Yellow mustard.
  • steak sauce,.
  • caramilized onions (saute sliced onions with a little brown sugar and cider vinegar).
  • Shredded lettuce.
  • pickle.
  • fresh tomato slices (yellow if you can find them).

Mouth-watering and friends and family approved! Simple, common ingredients and prep make for the best bbq-ed or stove-cooked beef patties anyone I know has ever tasted!

2 lbs ground beef, preferably lean
1 medium white onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons garlic powder
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground pepper
3/4 cup quick-cooking oats (more if the mixture seems soggy or won't hold together)
2 eggs
6 -8 large buns

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients (except the buns) in large bowl. Mix thoroughly with hands. Be sure to wear disposable latex gloves or well-cleaned rubber gloves while mixing to protect against e.coli and other bacteria, and to prevent cross-contamination with the rest of your meal!
  • Stove-top: Form mixture into 8 patties. Fry at medium-high heat, turning regularly, until juices are no longer bloody (a few minutes per side, more depending on the thickness of your patties.)
  • BBQ: form mixture into 6 patties. Grill at medium heat for a few minutes on each side, or until patties are firm and no longer pink throughout.
  • Add a burger to each bun, garnish as you like, and enjoy!

Here are the ingredients & the instructions to make the perfect burger! Although it may not be the healthiest, use medium ground beef for moistness & flavour. The leaner varieties produce burgers that are drier with a denser, tighter texture. Don't use previously frozen meat as juices are lost during defrosting. If making ahead, cover with plastic wrap & refrigerate for no more than a day. Enjoy!

1 egg
1 teaspoon mustard (regular or Dijon)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 small onion, finely grated
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 lb medium ground beef
1 tablespoon creamy caesar salad dressing or 1 tablespoon Greek salad dressing
1 tablespoon chopped sun-dried tomato
1 tablespoon sour cream or 1 tablespoon yoghurt
1 tablespoon grated fresh lemon rind or 1 tablespoon lime rind
1 tablespoon grated gingerroot
1 tablespoon ketchup or 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon lemon pepper
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 tablespoon fresh herb
2 teaspoons cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon teriyaki sauce or 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
1 fresh jalapenos or 1 pickled jalapeno pepper, chopped

Steps:

  • Lightly oil grill& heat BBQ to medium.
  • Whisk egg in a bowl& add next 6 ingredients.
  • Add any of the “stir-ins” that appeal to you.
  • Crumble in beef& using your hands or a fork, gently mix together.
  • Handle the meat as little as possible – the more you work it, the tougher it gets.
  • Gently shape (don’t firmly press) mixture into burgers about ¾ inch thick.
  • Using your thumb, make a shallow depression in the centre of each burger to prevent puffing up during cooking.
  • Place burgers on the grill, close lid& BBQ until NO LONGER PINK INSIDE, turning once, about 6 – 8 minutes per side.
  • An instant read thermometer should read 160F.
  • Don't abuse your burgers by pressing with a spatula, pricking with a fork or turning frequently as precious juices will be lost!
  • Tuck into a warm crusty bun& add your favourite toppings.
