½ cup butter
½ cup hot sauce
1 (1 ounce) package dry ranch-flavored seasoning mix
6 cups crispy rice cereal squares (such as Rice Chex®)
4 cups crispy wheat cereal squares (such as Wheat Chex®)
1 ¾ cups dry-roasted peanuts
1 ½ cups fish-shaped pretzel crackers (such as Pepperidge Farm® Goldish®)
1 ½ cups Parmesan-flavored fish-shaped crackers (such as Pepperidge Farm® Goldish®)

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Heat butter in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave until melted, 25 to 30 seconds. Add hot sauce and microwave until heated through, 20 to 30 seconds more. Stir in ranch seasoning.
Combine rice cereal squares, wheat cereal squares, peanuts, pretzel crackers, and Parmesan-flavored crackers in a large bowl. Pour in butter mixture; mix thoroughly to coat. Spread in 2 ungreased 9x13-inch baking pans.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden, about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and stir well. Return to the oven; bake until dried, about 15 minutes more. Spread on paper towels to cool.

This is a variation on the original Chex mix based on Buffalo chicken wing sauce. I got it from a newspaper coupon. Very easy and delicious - a bit spicy! Add more or less hot sauce to your liking. Would be great served with ranch or bleu cheese dressing for dipping.

Ingredients

4 cups Rice Chex
4 cups wheat Chex cereal
2 cups parmesan fish shaped crackers
2 cups pretzels, small
8 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons hot sauce (I use Louisiana brand)
1 (1 ounce) packet ranch dressing mix
2 teaspoons celery seeds

Steps:

Mix cereals, crackers and pretzels in large bowl. Set aside.
Line 2 cookie sheets with foil. Set oven for 350 degrees.
Melt butter in microwave, add hot sauce and seasonings and mix well. Pour over cereal mix and stir until evenly coated. Put half of mix on each cookie sheet and spread out evenly.
Bake both sheets at 350 for 20 minutes, then stir mix. Reverse sheets in oven (switch places). Bake an additional 20 minutes, checking to make sure it isn't getting too browned (mine took the full 40 minutes).
Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

2 1/2 tablespoons hot sauce
1 packet ranch dressing mix
2 teaspoons celery seed

Steps:

In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, crackers and pretzels; set aside. In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in hot sauce and seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
Microwave uncovered on High 4 to 5 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.
