- Combine sour cream, brown sugar, and brandy in a bowl and mix to combine.
- Beat cream in a chilled glass or metal bowl using an electric mixer until frothy. Add white sugar gradually, continuing to beat until whipped cream is thick. Fold whipped cream into sour cream mixture and blend well. Serve with fresh strawberries.

Found this among my recipes torn from newspapers and thought I'd share with those of you (like me) that can't buy brandy flavoured cream all year. I have only seen it in the stores close to Christmas!!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- Mix 1/3 cup brown sugar with water and lemon juice together in an ungreased baking dish until sugar is dissolved. Arrange pear halves, core side down, in the dish, and baste with the sauce. Cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake pears in the preheated oven for 20 - 25 minutes, or until fork-tender but not mushy.
- Meanwhile, mix nuts together with the remaining 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons brandy, and the yogurt; set aside. In a separate bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks form. Sprinkle in white sugar and remaining 2 teaspoons of brandy, or liqueur of choice, and gently whip a few strokes more.
- To serve, place one pear half in the center of each serving plate and fill core cavity with nut stuffing. Top with whipped cream. Serve warm.

- Place sweet potatoes in a large saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil. Cook 15 minutes, or until tender but firm. Drain, and set aside.

WARM BANANAS WITH BROWN SUGAR AND BAY LEAF

- In large skillet over high heat, melt the butter and cook until it browns, about 3 minutes. Add the bay leaves and stand back (it may pop). Add the lemon juice, orange juice, brown sugar, brandy, and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture up to a boil. Stir and cook until the liquid has reduced by half and it has reached a syrupy consistency, about 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat. Add the bananas and pepper. Stir to coat the bananas evenly. Serve immediately spooned over cake or ice cream.
- Cooking Notes: You can make the sauce hours ahead of time. Just add the fruit after you bring the sauce back to a simmer. The fruit should be a little cool inside. Serve it with a good, store bought chocolate cake or spoon it over your favorite ice cream.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a baking dish with cooking spray.

- Heat the butter in a small pan until just starting to take on a nutty brown colour - remove from the heat straight away as it will continue to colour. Stir in the brandy, then leave to cool.
- Heat the milk in a saucepan but don't let it boil. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until pale. Pour over the hot milk, whisking continuously, then return to the saucepan set over a low heat. Cook for 3-4 mins, stirring the whole time with a wooden spoon, until the custard thickens enough to coat the back of your spoon. Leave to cool.
- Whisk the cream until it forms soft, billowy peaks. Fold in the brandy butter and the custard mixture. Churn in an ice-cream machine until set, then keep in the freezer for up to 2 months.

- In a large bowl, combine the first 12 ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight., In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves and nutmeg; add to the creamed mixture alternately with orange and cherry juices, beating well after each addition. Stir in the fruit mixture., Pour into two well-greased 8x4-in. loaf pans. Cover with foil. Place on a rack in each of two stockpots.
