Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly butter the bottom of a 9 X 13 baking dish.
- Peel the pears, halve and core them. You can core them with a melon baller, with a metal measuring spoon, or with a paring knife, as I do in the video below. I like to leave the stems on - they make for a pretty presentation. But you can cut them off if you wish. You can also shave a thin slice off the bottom of each pear half, enabling them to stay upright in the baking dish.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, vanilla, and cinnamon. Brush the pears with the mixture on both sides.
- Arrange the pears in the prepared baking dish, cut side down. Bake them until fork-tender, about 30 minutes per side, basting every 15 minutes with the pan juices.
- Brush the pears one last time with the pan juices and serve warm.

GRILLED PEARS
Grilled Pears! Oh these are yummy! Try them as is or with some whipped cream, a drizzle of honey, a la mode the possibilities are endless! Add whatever special touch you like! I have tried these as they are with a garnish of fresh chopped mint and that was excellent too! Grill them on on the top rack while you are making the main dish in the bottom or add them to the grill after removing the main dish and cook while you are eating.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). I don't line my baking sheet when I make these, but you absolutely can with parchment or a silicone baking mat.
- Cut pears in half, then cut a small sliver off the underside so the pears sit flat when placed upright on the baking sheet. See video above for visual. Using a large or medium cookie scoop or melon baller (or even a teaspoon), core out the seeds. Arrange pears, facing up, on the baking sheet. Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon- feel free to add more cinnamon if you'd like.
- Whisk the maple syrup and vanilla extract together in a small bowl. Drizzle most of it all over the pears, reserving about 2 Tablespoons for after the pears are finished baking.
- Bake pears for about 25 minutes until soft and lightly browned on the edges. Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with remaining maple syrup mixture. Serve warm with granola and yogurt. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

- Cut pears in half. Set pears cut side down. Cut a flat 1/4 inch slice off of the roundest part of the pear (this is so that the pears will be less likely to tip over on the grill). Flip pears over. Use a spoon to scoop out the core from each pear half, making a round bowl in each, approximately the size of a half golf ball.
- Transfer pears to a flat tray. Pour 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce into the bowl of each pear. Add 8 chocolate chips to each.
- Use tongs and a metal lifter to carefully transfer the pears to the grill. Cover the grill, opening it to check on the pears occasionally. Cook until pears have softened, dark grill marks appear on the bottoms, and the chocolate chips have melted, about 7 minutes.
