Steps:
- For the biscuits: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
- Whisk together the flour, powdered milk, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, salt and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl. Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter bits and shortening into the dry mixture until blended thoroughly. Mix in the cheese, then fold in the buttermilk until the dough comes together.
- On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and press into a circle 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place the biscuits in cast-iron skillets, then brush the tops with the melted butter. Bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes, then set aside to cool a little.
- For the sandwiches: Next, add the sausage patties to a skillet over medium heat and fry until cooked through. Set aside and keep warm. In the same skillet, fry the eggs, turning them over to cook the yolks through.
- Now make a sandwich by cutting a biscuit in half. Put a sausage patty on the bottom half. Top with an egg, some hot sauce and a slice of cheese. Cover with the top and eat, or wrap in foil to keep warm.
HEALTHY OATMEAL BREAKFAST COOKIES
Recipe video above. Like homemade granola - in cookie form! A satisfying grab 'n run breakfast that tastes like your favourite Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. Same chewy and moist inside (thanks to the mashed dates!), but not as crispy. And these happen to be healthy! Customisable - see notes.

EASY HOMEMADE BREAKFAST BISCUITS
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients. Position a rack in the center of the oven and heat to 450 F.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder , and the salt.
- Cut in the shortening using a pastry cutter or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the dry mixture and add in the milk all at once.
- Stir together with a fork just until the dough clings together. You want it to still be a bit lumpy; this will help your biscuits be perfectly light and flaky, creating those delectable and airy layers when baking.
- Lightly flour a clean work surface. Gently knead your biscuit dough just a few times to bring the dough together.
- Roll out or pat the dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into 2 1/2-inch rounds with a flour dipped biscuit cutter. Be sure to push the cutter straight down, without twisting (this prevents layers from forming). Reroll the dough scraps once more to form additional biscuits.
- Space each piece of cut dough evenly on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake until the biscuits have risen and are lightly golden brown on top, about 12 minutes.
- Serve warm and enjoy!

SOUTHERN BREAKFAST BISCUITS - EASY BUT LIGHT AND FLUFFY
Having run through a range of biscuit recipes, this has become Kimberly's favorite way to have them. I'm not going to complain, they're lovely and fluffy, and if I have to make them, it's easy as pie. They're a little crispy on the edges, top and bottom, deliciously soft on the sides, and almost impossible to get wrong. All credit to the talented Kimberly for the recipe's creation. - Hugh

Steps:
- Pre-heat the oven to 450 Degrees Fahrenheit.
- Generously cover the bottom of an 8" square glass baking dish with Canola Oil, and set it in the oven.
- Combine Buttermilk and Flour in a mixing bowl.
- Add water until the consistency is slightly sloppier than dough. This wonderful little recipe works with a variety of consistencies - from slightly soggier than normal dough all the way to just-about-pourable.
- Add the 3 1/6th cups of Oil, and mix as little as necessary to combine all ingredients. Overmixing can lead to tough biscuits, so be careful not to fall for that trap!
- Take your glass dish from the oven, and pour/scoop/scrape your dough into it. Smooth it over the top if necessary, to ensure even sized biscuits. (no worries if you don't do this well, they still taste great).
- Oil a blunt knife and dip it in flour, and use it to cut your dough into 9 even squares.
- Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, checking at 8, until they're golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and serve.

Special enough that guests will think that you've really gone all out for them and easy enough that you can make then frequently for the family. It makes 12 biscuit squares but the men and teens will eat 2.

- In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Whisk to combine. Add in the shredded cheddar and mix until coated in the flour. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, add the egg and lightly beat the egg. Add in the milk and ¼ cup of the cooled melted butter, mix to combine. Add the wet mixture to the dry and stir until just combined, a few lumps is okay, but make sure there are no dry patches.
- Evenly dollop 12 portions of the biscuit mix on the baking sheets, about 3 inches apart. Each biscuit equals about ¼ cup of biscuit mix. I like to use a ¼ cup scooper for this.
