BRAZILIAN LEMONADE RECIPE (LIMEADE)
This Brazilian Lemonade Recipe (or Brazilian Limeade because it is actually made out of limes) is a super refreshing drink perfect to enjoy all year round just like caipirinha, especially in the summertime. It is one of those easy Brazilian recipes that is perfect for barbecues, cookouts, and other celebrations and you can pair it perfectly with this Brazilian chicken churrasco!

Steps:
- To start, wash limes, scrubbing well, to remove dirt, outer wax, and pesticides.
- Then, cut limes into 1/8ths or thin wedges. Place them in a blender or food processor with ice water, sugar, and ice cubes.
- Blend quickly (pulse about 5 to 7 times). If you blend for longer, this will make your lemonade bitter!
- Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer and press the lime pulp gently to release its extra juice. Discard the limes skins and pulps!
- Serve Brazilian lemonade in a pitcher with lots of ice and lime wedges. If you want to, stir in condensed milk to make a sweeter and creamy lemonade. It's up to you! To make it dairy-free, replace it with coconut milk.
- For a variation of the recipe, you may add fresh mint leaves and blend with the other ingredients. For an alcoholic version, stir in some cachaça, vodka, or white rum.
- Brazilian limeade is meant to be consumed immediately because it has the tendency to get bitter over time. But if you have leftovers, you may store them covered in the fridge for up to one day. Make sure to add extra sugar and stir well before drinking leftovers.
- Some freeze this classic Brazilian drink in popsicle molds but I find it to be bitter!

Steps:
- Choose limes that have a thin skin. They should be smooth and easier to squeeze than limes with a thick rind. You will be that weirdo squeezing all the limes at the grocery store. Embrace it.
- Chop all 5 limes into small 1 inch chunks, see photos.
- Add 2 cups ice water to a blender. You can leave in a few ice cubes if you want, 5-8 is fine. Not too many, you want to make sure you have enough liquid.
- Add the chopped limes to the blender. Blend in pulses for no more than a total of 15 seconds. Do not over blend; your limeade will get bitter from the lime piths!
- Set a strainer over a large glass measuring cup, or over a bowl with a spout.* Pour the mixture through the strainer. Use a rubber spatula or your hands to press the blended limes as much as possible to get out as much liquid as you can.
- Pour the strained liquid back into the blender. Add a scant 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk to the blender. (This is 10 tablespoons, or you could measure it at 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons.)
- Blend again until it is nice and frothy.
- Serve immediately over a glass that is FULL of ice. It's very important to serve Brazilian Lemonade cold!
- IMPORTANT! You must serve this drink IMMEDIATELY! Even waiting 20-30 minutes will not do. The longer it sits, the more bitter it will become. This is because there is lime pith (the white stuff in between the flesh of the lime and the rind) in the drink, and the bitterness of the pith takes over the sweetness the longer it sits. It's super tasty served right away; not overly bitter at all. See notes for a Make Ahead Brazilian limeade recipe.
- This recipe makes about 3 cups. Don't save leftovers. Don't freeze leftovers. Live in the moment! CHUG CHUG CHUG!!!!

BRAZILIAN LEMONADE
This is so tasty - a friend of mine gave me this recipe. Wild that is it called Lemonade as it is made with limes. It is refreshing and kinda frothy. You can also add vodka for an adult drink. We like to add vodka and put in the freezer for awhile then come back to slushy goodness.

BRAZILIAN LEMONADE
Funny title since this recipe uses limes instead of lemons. I found this in my Sunset Magazine today and decided to post it for ZWT 4 . It is important to strain out the lime rinds so the lemonade won't get bitter.

Steps:
- Place all the ingredients in a blender. Add 4 cups cold water and blend on high speed until limes are slightly chopped. Strain into a pitcher and then, with the strainer still resting above the pitcher, slowly pour about 1 more cup water (depending on how sweet you want the drink) through the strainer over the lime pieces to extract all the residual sugar and juice.

BRAZILIAN LIMEADE
The Baptist college I attended my freshman year had a special program where students from Brazil could come and study through a missions program. This is a recipe from Carolina, one of my best girlfriends. I love it because it's different from other limeade.
