BRANDY SLUSH

Brandy Slush image

My parents used to play cards once a month on a Saturday night. In the summertime, when it was her turn to host, my mom would make this wonderful cool beverage as part of her buffet of snacks and goodies. A cool glass of Brandy Slush also often made family gatherings more tolerable... was it the coolness of the drink, or the brandy that did it? I'm not telling! (Time required to freeze beverage is not included in the time to make.)

Time 8h20m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups water
2 cups sugar
2 cups hot water
4 GREEN tea bags
5 cups cold water
1 can (12 oz.) frozen lemonade (yellow not pink)
1 can (12 oz.) frozen orange juice
2 cups brandy - make sure it is exactly 2 cups (for more or less and it won't freeze right)

Steps:

  • Mix together 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar and heat (either on top of stove or in microwave) to dissolve sugar. Make tea with 2 cups hot water and 4 green tea bags (let it seep for awhile). Take the above two (tea & sugar water) and put into a large plastic container that can go in the freezer. Add to this: 5 cups cold water, lemonade, orange juice, and brandy. Stir all together and freeze - overnight is good.
  • Take out container and stir - should be a slush consistency.
  • To serve: scoop some of the slush into a glass 8-12 oz. and pour 7UP/Sprite type soda over the top - stir with a spoon and serve with a straw. Great for summer days!
