1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (1/2 inch) piece fresh ginger, grated
3 cups blueberries
¼ cup real maple syrup
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons molasses
½ teaspoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion, garlic, and ginger until onion is softened, about 8 minutes. Add blueberries, maple syrup, cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, lemon juice, cinnamon, cumin, chili powder, paprika, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper; stir to combine. Simmer over medium-low heat until sauce is slightly reduced and bubbling, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove skillet from heat; cool slightly. Pour sauce into a blender no more than half full. Cover and hold lid down; pulse a few times before leaving on to blend. Puree in batches until smooth.

Blueberry BBQ sauce is going to be your favorite new favorite BBQ sauce. It's naturally sweet with a slight tang. It pairs well with grilled pork, especially ribs or chicken.

1 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon maple syrup (you can adjust this to your taste)
1 clove fresh garlic, crushed

Steps:

  • Prepare the ingredients: measure the ketchup and vinegar, crush the garlic, rinse the blueberries or if you are using frozen, rinse them off and let them thaw out in a bowl.
  • Add the ketchup, blueberries, vinegar, crushed garlic to a saucepan and cook on low heat stirring occasionally until the blueberries become very soft - about 30 minutes.
  • Add 1 tablespoon maple syrup, and check the taste for sweetness and adjust the flavors.
  • For a smooth sauce, place sauce into a blender, food processor or use an immersion blender.

3 pints blueberries
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup balsamic vinegar
1 cup red wine vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
1 onion, sliced
1 habanero pepper
1 dark beer
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground coffee
1 tablespoon chipotle powder
5 pounds smoked and cooked St. Louis cut pork ribs

Steps:

  • Add all the ingredients for the sauce into a saucepan and cook for 2 hours over medium-low heat. Remove the sauce from the heat and place into a food processor or blender and puree. Strain the sauce and set aside.
  • Preheat grill over medium-high heat.
  • Place the ribs onto the grill and brush with sauce. This will glaze the ribs while they cook.
  • The blueberries add a subtle sweetness to the sauce to play off the heat of the chiles and the acid of the vinegar.

  • 1 Heat oil in a non-reactive saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and jalapeño, stirring until wilted, about 3 minutes. 2 Add the ketchup, vinegar, sugar, mustard and Tabasco and bring to a simmer. Add the blueberries and simmer over low heat, stirring until thickened, about 10 minutes. 3 Purée the sauce in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pass through a strainer and season with salt and pepper. Serve at room temperature.

3 tablespoons sambal chili paste
3 tablespoons ketchup
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
3 tablespoons apple cider
1 plum tomato, seeded and chopped
Kosher salt, if needed

Steps:

  • In a saucepot on medium heat, add the blueberries, sambal, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider and tomatoes. Cook, while mashing the berries and tomatoes, until everything is broken down and the liquid begins to thicken, about 10 minutes. Simmer on low to further reduce if desired. Taste and add salt only if you feel it is needed.

1 cup fresh or frozen unsweetened blueberries
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar

4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 shallots, minced
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (about 6 ounces each)

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, bring blueberries to a boil; cook and stir until softened, 4-5 minutes. Mash berries. Add next eight ingredients; increase heat to medium. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until thickened, 15-20 minutes. Remove about 3/4 cup sauce; reserve. Refrigerate, covered, until just before serving. Brush chicken with remaining sauce. Refrigerate chicken and remaining sauce, covered, about 1 hour., Place chicken on a greased grill rack. Grill, covered, over medium direct heat, brushing occasionally with remaining sauce, 8-10 minutes. Turn; grill, brushing with sauce, until a thermometer reads 165°, 8-10 minutes longer. Discard any remaining grilling sauce., Microwave reserved sauce, covered, on high until heated through, 30-60 seconds. Serve with grilled chicken.,

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
2 cups wild blueberries, lightly mashed
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon paprika
coarse salt
freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, to taste
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Saute the onion, garlic and ginger until soft, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the blueberries and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Add the cider vinegar, honey, molasses, ketchup, paprika, salt, pepper, cinnamon, Dijon mustard, nutmeg, celery seed, cayenne pepper, cloves and brown sugar.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for 15 minutes.
  • Puree the mixture with an immersion blender.
  • If you want a"finer" sauce, strain it back into a clean saucepan.
  • Bring the sauce back to a simmer and cook a few minutes more.
  • Let cool completely.
