1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 (16 ounce) package powdered sugar, plus
1 cup powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Beat first 5 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.
  • 2. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating at low speed until blended and smooth after each addition.
  • Note: Be sure to wash and thoroughly dry blackberries before adding to frosting.

1 cup fresh blackberries
2 cups unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash salt
7 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Place blackberries in a blender; cover and process until pureed. Press through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl; discard seeds., In a large bowl, beat butter until creamy. Beat in vanilla and salt. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until smooth. Add blackberry puree; beat until blended.
