This old fashioned bread pudding recipe is sweetly spiced and filled with raisins, coconut, and tasty buttermilk biscuits.

2 cups crumbled leftover biscuits (see post for recipes)
3/4 cup sweetened flaked coconut (see post if you don't like coconut)
1/2 cup raisins
4 cups milk
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a 2-quart baking dish or medium-sized pyrex ovenproof bowl.
  • Layer 1/3 crumbled biscuits, 1/2 coconut, and 1/2 raisins in a bowl. Top with 1/3 biscuits, remaining coconut and raisins, and remaining biscuits.
  • In a large bowl, mix all other ingredients together, reserving 2 tablespoons of the sugar.
  • Pour the liquid over the biscuit layers and sprinkle the remaining sugar over the top.
  • Bake for 1 hour, or until golden brown on top. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.

2 tablespoons butter, melted, plus more for the baking dish
2 1/2 cups sourdough bread cubes (1-inch cubes)
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
2 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
Whiskey Cream Sauce, recipe follows, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch baking dish.
  • Arrange the bread cubes tightly in the prepared baking dish. Beat together the butter, milk, vanilla and eggs in a large bowl. Add the granulated and brown sugars and mix until dissolved. Pour the mixture over the bread.
  • Put the baking dish on a baking sheet. Bake until the crust is golden brown, 55 to 70 minutes. Let rest for 20 minutes before serving.

This recipe was given to me by a friend at Church. An old fashioned biscuit pudding with vanilla, eggs, and milk. For extra flavor, add a little cinnamon, nutmeg and some raisins to this biscuit pudding.

4 large eggs
2 c milk
1 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla extrace
3 c crumbled biscuits*
1/2 c raisins
2 tsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place bread and 1 cup milk in 1 1/2 quart baking dish, soak until soft.
  • 2. In a medium bowl mix sugar and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add butter, vanilla, remaining milk and raisins. Add to biscuit mixture and stir. Bake for 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 3. *1 (10 count) can-refrigerated biscuits, baked according to package directions and crumbled, may be used for crumbled biscuits.

2 large egg yolks
2-1/4 cups half-and-half cream
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup butter, melted

1/4 teaspoon sea salt
20 dinner rolls (1-1/4 pounds), cut into 1-inch cubes (18 cups)

SAUCE:
1 cup butter, cubed
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup half-and-half cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/8 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Whisk together the first 10 ingredients until blended. Gently stir in bread. Transfer to a greased 3-qt. or 13x9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar; let stand until bread is softened, about 15 minutes. Bake until puffed and a knife inserted in center comes out clean, 40-45 minutes., Meanwhile, for sauce, melt butter in a large heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar; stir until dissolved. Gradually stir in cream. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer until thickened, 15-20 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add vanilla, sea salt and baking soda, stirring well. Serve sauce with warm bread pudding.

¼ cup raisins

1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Butter a 9-inch square baking dish.

⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

4 day old biscuits, crumbled

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and vegetable oil. Add the sugar mixture to wet ingredients and stir until combined.

8 eggs
4 1/2 cups milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Bake biscuits as directed on bag. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.

2 cups milk , divided
1 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Heat the oven to 350 F and butter a shallow 2-quart baking dish.
  • Put the biscuits in a large bowl and add 1 cup of milk. Let stand for about 5 to 10 minutes or until the biscuits have softened.
  • With a fork, stir in the sugar and 1 of the eggs, mixing to blend well. Add the remaining eggs, 1 egg at a time, mixing after each addition.
  • Add the melted butter , vanilla, and the remaining milk, and blend well.
