1 lb bratwurst
1/2 red pepper, 1/2-inch diced
1 medium Spanish onion, 1/2 inch diced
2 teaspoons cholula hot sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon chipotle pepper (puree chipotle pepper from a can)
1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
1 teaspoon ground cumin
6 cloves chopped garlic
8 ounces beer
2 cups tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup sliced green onion

Steps:

  • Remove the brats from the casings and crumble into 2" pieces.
  • Heat a 2-quart stockpot over medium heat, Sauté brat crumbles until brown and cooked. Drain fat.
  • Add remaining ingredients except green onions and bring to a boil. Turn down to simmer and cook for 1 hour. Fold in green onions and enjoy!

2 ½ pounds fresh bratwurst links, cut into 1-inch slices
2 tablespoons bacon drippings, divided
1 large onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 jalapeno peppers, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups sauerkraut, drained
2 (15 ounce) cans red beans, drained and rinsed
2 (15 ounce) cans petite diced tomatoes
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 (12 fluid ounce) cans tomato juice
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle German-style beer
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cumin
¼ cup chili powder
3 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon oregano
2 ½ ounces milk chocolate candy

Steps:

  • Place the bratwurst into a large skillet with 1 tablespoon of bacon drippings over medium heat; cook and stir the bratwurst until the pieces are browned and no longer pink inside, about 15 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  • Place remaining 1 tablespoon of bacon drippings in a large, deep pot over medium heat, and cook and stir the onion, green and jalapeno peppers, and garlic until the onion is translucent, about 8 minutes. Place the bratwurst into the pot with the vegetables, and stir in the sauerkraut, red beans, petite diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato juice, beer, salt, black pepper, cumin, chili powder, sugar, garlic powder, paprika, allspice, and oregano.
  • Bring the chili to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, and stir in the milk chocolate until melted and dissolved. Simmer for 5 hours, stirring occasionally.

4 (12 ounce) cans beer
1 large onion, diced
10 bratwurst
2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. When hot, lightly oil grate.
  • Combine the beer and onions in a large pot; bring to a boil. Submerge the bratwurst in the beer; add the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook another 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer mixture; reduce heat to low, and continue cooking the onions.
  • Cook the bratwurst on the preheated grill, turning once, 5 to 10 minutes. Serve with the beer mixture as a topping or side.

1 boneless beef chuck steak (1 pound), cubed
2 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1 pound uncooked bratwurst links, sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
3 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes with mild green chiles, undrained
2 cans (16 ounces each) hot chili beans, undrained
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer or 1-1/2 cups beef broth
1 can (14-3/4 ounces) cream-style corn
1 can (8 ounces) pizza sauce
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Sour cream, optional

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, brown steak in 1 tablespoon oil. Remove and keep warm. , Add the bratwurst, onion and remaining oil to the pan; cook and stir over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. , Return steak to the pan. Stir in the tomatoes, beans, beer, corn, pizza sauce, chili powder, cumin and pepper flakes. , Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until heated through, 25-30 minutes. Serve with sour cream if desired.

I like to make up my own chili recipes. So many variations. This one is a keeper!

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lbs - beer brats casing removed
1 - large onion chopped
1 med - green bell pepper chopped
3 Tbls - chili powder
1 28 oz ca - tomato puree
1 28 oz - tomatoes, canned and chopped, with liquid
1 can - condensed tomato soup
1 sm can - tomato paste
1 can - kidney beans with liq
1 can - black beans rinsed
1can - navy beans drained
1 cup - water

Steps:

  • Break up brats and cook in lrg fry pan until cooked through, drain grease
  • Add chopped onion and bell pepper (can add jalapeño pepper as well if desired) cook until soft
  • Add chili powder, salt, pepper as desired.
  • In large soup pot add all tomato products and water. Stir well to dissolve soup and tomato paste.
  • Add meat onion pepper mixture. Bring to a simmer then add beans.
  • Simmer for approx. 1/2 hr and enjoy with a loaf of crusty bread
