BEER BREAD
Per Google.com, the #1 recipe for Beer Bread in the world! There are a few recipes for beer bread out there, but none as simple (and tasty!) as this one. You can even mix it in the baking pan for easy cleanup. This is sensational when served with soups or just as a snack, but don't expect it to be around very long when your family gets a taste of it! Be sure to use a sheet pan on the shelf below the pan to catch any excess butter that may drip during cooking.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix dry ingredients and beer.
- Pour into a greased loaf pan.
- Pour melted butter over mixture.
- Bake 1 hour, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes.
- UPDATED NOTES: This recipe makes a very hearty bread with a crunchy, buttery crust. If you prefer a softer crust (like a traditional bread) mix the butter into the batter instead of pouring it over the top.
- Sifting flour for bread recipes is a must-do. Most people just scoop the 1 cup measure in the flour canister and level it off. That compacts the flour and will turn your bread into a "hard biscuit" as some have described. That's because they aren't sifting their flour! If you do not have a sifter, use a spoon to spoon the flour into the 1 cup measure. Try it once the "correct" way and you will see an amazing difference in the end product.
- I have had many email from you kind folks about using non-alcoholic beverages instead of beer. That is fine to do but I highly recommend adding a packet of Dry Active Yeast or 2 teaspoons of Bread (Machine) Yeast so that you get a proper rise.
- The final result should be a thick, hearty and very tasteful bread, NOT A BRICK! ;).
- Thank you all for the incredibly nice comments and those of you who left a bad review - learn to sift sift SIFT! You will be amazed at the results you get.

Steps:
- For Greg's Bella Coola Bannock:
- Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Using a pastry cutter or knife, cut in the butter until the pieces are pea-sized. Mix in the egg, then pour in about 1/4 cup (60 mL) of milk. Mix together just until a dough forms, adding more milk if needed. Divide the dough into 10 to 12 biscuit-sized pieces. In a large frying pan, pour in about 1/4 inch (6 mm) of oil and heat over medium-high. When the oil is hot, fry the bannock-being careful not to crowd them-until golden brown. Serve immediately with maple syrup and flaky sea salt.
- For Doreen Crowe's Bannock:
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and water together to form a dough. If the dough is a bit dry, add more water 1 Tbsp (15 mL) at a time. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll out into a 9×12-inch (23×30-cm) rectangle about 1/4-inch (6-mm) thick. Cut into approximately 3×3-inch (8×8-cm) squares. Heat about 1/4 inch (6 mm) of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat, and fry the bannock-being careful not to crowd them-until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side. Serve warm.

Steps:
- Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt together in a bowl.
- Make a hollow cone shape in the middle of the dry ingedients and slowly mix in oil and warm water.
- Starting from the center and working outwards in a circle motion, more and more flour will slowly work its way to form a dough.
- Start to knead the dough until all the flour is worked in.
- Pour enough oil to cover the out side of the dough in the bowl.
- Let sit until doubled in size. "I like to heat the oven for 10 minutes on 250C degrees, then place dough in there":p.
- After it doubles in size, put the 4 cups of grease in a large pot and heat on high for 15 minutes.
- Turn lower like a few millitmeters.
- Then roll dough out to a 1/2 centimeter thickness on a well greased surface. Cut in to favorable size.
- Place carefully into a pot and brown on each side.Next, place to cool.
- After, this delicious bread can be fozen or topped with an endless choice of toppings.
BUBBA'S BEER BREAD
This bread is the best when baked in a black cast iron pan. Once the bread is in the oven, start 'cookin down' those collard greens, black eyed peas and hawg jaws. It's a New Years tradition. It'll change your luck !!!

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 or 10 inch cast iron skillet.
- In a large bowl, stir together the self-rising flour, sugar, onion powder, dill weed and salt. Pour in the beer, and stir until all of the dry is incorporated. Stir as lightly as possible so as not to deflate the beer. Fold in cheese cubes.
- Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly touched. The bread should rise way above the edge of the pan.
