MARINADE FOR SKEWERED BEAR MEAT



Marinade for Skewered Bear Meat image

A friend gave me this recipe about 10 years ago after we had some nice bear meat at a party he threw. I've never made it but the bear sure was good.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup peanut oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 large finely chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, mashed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Cut bear meat into bite size pieces.
  • Mix all the ingredients together and put into a plastic zip lock bag or glass bowl with lid.
  • Add bear meat and place in fridge for several hours turning to coat as needed.
  • Soak skewers in water for an hour and thread bear meat onto skewers along with any veggies you may want or the bear meat alone.
  • I did mine with bear, pearl onions and green peppers.
  • Grille to your preference of doneness.

BEE'S KNEES COCKTAIL

Enjoy a bright, zingy 'bees knees' cocktail, with honey, dry gin and lemon juice. It's great drink for showcasing a flavourful honey. Garnish with lemon zest

2 tsp honey
50ml dry gin
25ml lemon juice
ice
lemon zest strip, to serve

Steps:

  • Put the honey in a small jug or cup and add 1 tsp freshly boiled water. Stir well until smooth and the honey is nicely thinned down.
  • Pour the honey mixture into a cocktail shaker along with the gin, lemon juice and a large handful of ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
  • Double strain into a cocktail glass or a coupe and garnish with a curled strip of lemon zest - you can do this by wrapping it tightly around a spoon handle.
