THE EASIEST CHILI RECIPE EVER

The Easiest Chili Recipe Ever image

Categories     Main Course

Time 2h5m

Number Of Ingredients 11

Optional: 2 lbs meat of your choice (cooked)
(2) 14 ounce cans ranch style pinto beans, do not drain
(1) 14 ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
(1) 14 ounce can white beans, do not drain
(1) 14 ounce can tomato sauce
(1) 14 ounce can diced tomatoes
(1) 14 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes with green chile
(1) 7 ounce can chopped green chile
(1) 14 ounce can yellow corn, drained

Toppings: shredded cheese (sour cream, green onions, corn chips)

Steps:

  • STOVE-TOP DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a simmer over medium low heat, cover with lid and simmer, stirring occasionally for 2-10 hours. (Yes, you can simply bring the chili to a boil, simmer 15 minutes and then serve it. However, if you have the chance to cook it longer, I highly recommend it. The flavors will change into something even better if you allow them to simmer together for a while.) Serve with the toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
  • CROCK-POT DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients in a large crock-pot. Cook on LOW for 8-12 hours. Serve with the toppings of your choice. Enjoy!

THE BEST CHILI

The Best Chili image

There are a thousand ways to make chili, but this is the quintessential, totally classic version. We used ground beef, kidney beans and the perfect blend of spices. You can slather it on hot dogs and burgers or serve it as a dip, but it can surely stand on its own. Chances are, you have everything you need right in your pantry. Top it with your favorite garnishes and serve with plenty of tortilla chips.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 1h30m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 16

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Two 15.5-ounce cans kidney beans, undrained
Sour cream, shredded Cheddar and sliced scallions, for serving
Tortilla chips, for serving

  • Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons oil. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly golden, about 10 minutes.
  • Add the jalapeno and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne, 1/2 teaspoon salt and the tomato paste. Cook, stirring frequently, until coated and fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Stir in the beef broth and crushed tomatoes and bring to a boil over high heat. Stir in the cooked ground beef and any accumulated liquid, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer the chili, partially covered, until the beef is tender and the sauce is slightly thickened, about 30 minutes.
  • Stir in the beans and their liquid and simmer uncovered until the beans are softened and the chili is thickened, about 30 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Top with sour cream, Cheddar and scallions. Serve with tortilla chips.

THE ONLY BASIC CHILI RECIPE YOU'LL EVER NEED

The Only Basic Chili Recipe You'll Ever Need image

Our easy chili is hearty, comforting, and wholesome-plus it's significantly lower in calories, fat, and sodium than classic recipes. Smoked paprika and a splash of beer kick up the flavor, and our clever trick for perfectly browned ground beef would surely make any grandmother proud. Instead of overcrowding the Dutch oven, we brown the beef separately in a large skillet. Master this chili recipe-then customize it however you like. Swap out kidney beans for black beans, pinto beans, or a combination of all three. Instead of ground sirloin, use ground turkey or ground bison meat. Don't forget chili toppings-we love fresh cilantro, queso fresco cheese, avocado, crushed tortilla chips, sliced radishes, or a squeeze of lime.

Provided by Elizabeth Laseter

Time 56m

Yield Serves 8 (serving size: about 1 1/2 cups)

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 tablespoons canola oil
1 1/2 pounds lean ground sirloin
2 cups chopped yellow onion (about 1 large onion)
2 tablespoons chopped garlic (2 cloves)
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons ground chili powder
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
6 ounces amber lager (such as Negra Modela or Dos Equis Amber Lager)
2 15.5-ounce cans no salt added dark red kidney beans
2 28-ounce cans no salt added whole peeled tomatoes
Toppings: fresh cilantro leaves, queso fresco, sliced avocado, lime wedges

Steps:

  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the oil, swirling to coat the skillet. Add ground beef, and cook until browned (drain fat if needed), about 6 minutes. Set aside.
  • Heat a large dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the remaining oil, then add the onions and garlic. Reduce heat to medium and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the spices, salt, and pepper. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add beef, beans, and beer, scraping pan to loosen browned bits. Cook until beer is slightly reduced, about 1 minute.
  • Stir in tomatoes and juice from the can (try this hack to avoid a mess: instead of a spoon, use kitchen shears to gently break up the tomatoes); bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour. Let cool and top with desired garnishes.

BASIC SPICY CHILI

Basic Spicy Chili image

This is a basic chili recipe, but my favorite. Since I am a vegetarian, I omit the beef and add more beans for a great meatless chili. I also add more hot sauce for extra kick. This chili is great served with sour cream and/or cheese.

Provided by HollyJane

Categories     Beans

Time 45m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/4 lbs ground beef
3 medium onions, chopped
1 (46 ounce) can tomato juice
1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes
3 cups kidney beans, drained and rinsed
4 tablespoons chili powder (or to taste)
1/4 teaspoon Dave's Insanity hot sauce (or your favorite intense hot sauce--optional)
1/8 teaspoon baking soda (a pinch)
1 cup water (if needed)

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, saute beef and onions together until beef is browned.
  • Drain beef and add to a large soup pot (this step can be skipped if you wish to brown the beef in the soup pot).
  • Add tomato juice and simmer over medium heat.
  • Add tomatoes (with their juice), crushing between fingers to break apart.
  • Add kidney beans, chili powder (the entire 4 tablespoons may be a bit much for some people, so start out small and add to taste), and optional hot sauce.
  • After mixture comes to a simmer, add baking soda (the baking soda will help cut down the acidity of the tomatoes).
  • Simmer for about 20-30 minutes, adding water if necessary to thin out the chili.
  • Taste for seasoning.
