BBQ Pork Steaks Recipe in the Oven: Pork Steak Recipes can be so easy and this one can be made with little effort, showing you how and how to bake!

Provided by Jessica Burgess

Categories     Main Course

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 pork steaks or pork shoulders
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
1 16 oz. bottle of barbecue sauce (I use Sweet Baby Rays)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Rub salt and pepper on both sides of each pork steak if desired
  • Line a baking pan (large enough to fit the number of steaks you're cooking, so they don't overlap) with aluminum foil.
  • Drizzle half a bottle of barbeque sauce on the aluminum foil where you'll place each steak.
  • Place your steaks down on the foil and sauce, and then cover steaks with remaining bbq sauce.
  • Bake the pork steaks at 400 degrees, uncovered for 50-60 minutes, (on the middle rack) or until the internal temperature of the steaks reaches 145 degrees. NOTE: Oven temperatures can vary, and some have reported that they prefer baking at 350 for 50-60 minutes, or checking the internal temp after 30 minutes to avoid over-baking.

EASY STRIP LOIN STEAKS ON THE BBQ

Easy strip loin steaks on the BBQ image

This steak recipe is easy to make and the steaks come out tender and juicy! Why pay triple the price when you can make restaurant quality steaks at home?

Provided by Nelson Cardoso

Categories     Main     Main Course

Time 17m

Number Of Ingredients 4

6 strip loin steaks (roughly 4.4 lbs or 2 kg)
3 tsp coarse salt
2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Heat the grill to about 500 ºF
  • Place the 6 steaks on a large clean cutting board and let them sit at room temperature between 20 and 30 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the coarse salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the steak.
  • Drizzle the oil over both sides of the steak and pat down to make sure there's oil, salt and pepper coating all sides of the steaks.
  • Place the steaks on the hot grill on a 45 degree angle to the grill grates and close the BBQ lid.
  • After 6 minutes, lift the lid and flip the steaks over, once again on a 45 degree angle to the grill grates and close the BBQ lid.
  • Open the lid and test the centre of the steaks with a meat thermometer. Your steaks should be close to 145 ºF for medium. This is our favourite internal temperature. If you prefer your steaks medium rare, reduce the cooking time by 1 to 2 minutes per side and aim for 135 ºF.
  • Move the steaks to a serving dish and tent with aluminum foil for about 10 minutes. Letting them rest will give you juicier steaks.
  • Serve the steaks with compound butter or sauce (try our chimichurri sauce) and your favourite side dish. Enjoy!

  • For the Steak Seasoning: Add ingredients to a mortar and pestle then coarsely grind. Alternatively, add ingredients to a heavy duty Ziplock bag, squeeze all the air out, then crush ingredients with a meat pounder, rolling pin, or heavy bottomed skillet.
  • For the Herb Butter: Add ingredients to a bowl then stir with a fork to combine. Scoop herb butter onto a sheet of plastic wrap then shape into a thick log and refrigerate until firm (if time is of the essence you can freeze for 20-30 minutes.) Can be done ahead of time.
  • For the steaks: Trim steaks of any big hunks of fat to avoid flare ups on the grill then pat dry with a paper towel. Rub each side with oil then season generously with the steak seasoning and press gently into steaks so it adheres - you should use most if not all of the seasoning.
  • Light 2/3 or 1/2 of your grill burners (2 of 3 burners, or 1 of 2 burners, depending on how many burners you have) then heat on high for 10-15 minutes, or until the grill reaches 500 degrees. Add steaks to the lit side then sear on each side for 1-1/2 minutes (adjust accordingly if your steaks are bigger or smaller than 1lb cut 1-1/2" thick,) keeping the lid closed between flipping. Transfer steaks to unlit portion of grill then continue cooking for 7-10 minutes with the lid closed for medium doneness, or until they've reached your preferred level of doneness. Remove steaks to a platter then let rest for at least 5 minutes. Top with sliced herb butter then serve.

11 SAUCES TO SERVE WITH GRILLED STEAK | FOOD & WINE

From foodandwine.com
  • Italian salsa verde. Whether you use three types of herbs like Mario Batali or keep it simple and just use parsley, this punchy caper-based sauce is a no-brainer for grilled steak and meat of any kind.
  • Chimichurri. Salsa verde’s South American cousin, this tangy herb sauce is what you find on the table all over Argentina.
  • Gremolata. If you want the bright herbs without salsa verde’s tangy flavors, make gremolata, which is more like a garnish than a sauce.
  • Shallot dressing. Think of this warm shallot vinaigrette as a grown-up take on steak with onion rings.
  • Compound butter. If you believe in piling decadence over decadence, top your steak with flavored butter, like one blended with Cognac and parsley, or something more pungent, like anchovies and Parmesan.
  • Aioli. Provençal-style garlicky mayonnaise is an eye-opening choice with steak. You can make a cheater version with store-bought mayo, lemon and garlic or pound it out Luddite-style with a mortar and pestle and blend it with a whisk.
  • Poblano sauce. When grilled or roasted, poblanos have a fruity, smoky flavor that’s terrific with steak. To make an extra-rich sauce, blend poblanos into aioli or puree the peppers with corn for a Southwestern-inspired accompaniment.
  • Mole. With smoky dried red chiles, sweet spices and chocolate, a riff on Mexican-style mole is an inspiring choice to brush over grilled steak.
  • Smoky almond sauce. Mole too complicated? Make this ancho chile-almond sauce, which is less sweet but just as delicious.
  • Green Sriracha. You know the red stuff in the rooster bottle, but Sriracha is actually a category of Southeast Asian hot sauce. Make Susan Feniger’s maximalist version with green chiles along with coconut, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves.

  • Short Rib Tacos With Cilantro-Lime Slaw. Short ribs aren’t just for braising. Boneless short ribs in particular can be grilled like steak, but be sure to cook them to medium doneness, just long enough to render fat and tenderize, without letting them overcook or toughen.
  • Party Steak with Grilled Scallion Salsa Verde. Skirt steak is our favorite choice when grilling for a crowd for two reasons: it feeds many and cooks in a jiffy.
  • Grilled Strip Steak with Blistered Tomatoes and Green Beans. Good idea alert: Cooking half the tomatoes in a skillet on the grill lets you capture all their juices and turn them into a saucy condiment for the steak.
