1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Thai-style sweet chili sauce
3 dashes Sriracha hot chile sauce (or to taste)
1/2 cup cornstarch (or as needed)
1 medium medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)
oil for frying
8 lettuce leaves
1 bunch chopped green onion (or to taste)

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Siracha hot sauce. Set aside.
  • Place the cornstarch in a shallow bowl. Gently press the shrimp into the cornstarch and coat on both sides. Shake off any excess.
  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Cook the shrimp in batches. Each batch should cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until the shrimp are lightly browned on the outside. Once cooked, transfer to paper towels to drain.
  • Place cooked shrimp in a bowl and pour chili sauce mixture on top. Toss gently to coat.
  • Top with green onion if desired.
  • Enjoy!

We had these at Bonefish Grill. They are a great app. Since then, I have been trying many recipes looking for one that tastes close. This is the best that I have found. Sometimes I fix these and just serve with a salad for lunch - very delicious!

1 lb shrimp, shelled and deveined smaller shrimp works best
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
3 -5 drops hot chili sauce, just a few drops
1/2-3/4 cup cornstarch, to coat the shrimp in

Steps:

  • Mix mayo and sauces for coating.
  • Bread shrimp in cornstarch.
  • Deep fat fry the shrimp until lightly brown.
  • Drain on paper towel, put shrimp in a bowl and coat with the sauce.
  • Serve in a lettuce lined bowl, top with chopped scallions.

A quick low fat meal with an oriental taste. Sustitute the shrimp with 2 shredded cooken chicken breasts for a change if you wish.

5 ounces rice noodles
3 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter
4 tablespoons half fat coconut milk
3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
3 scallions, sliced
1 cucumber, peeled, halved lengthwise, deseeded and sliced
10 ounces bean sprouts
7 ounces cooked peeled shrimp

Steps:

  • Cook the noodles following the pack instructions then rinse under cold water and drain thoroughly.
  • In a small saucepan melt together the peanut butter, coconut milk, sweet chili sauce and half the scallions, adding 1-2 tbs water to loosen the mixture to a drizzling consistency.
  • Mix the noodles, cucumber and beansprouts in a serving dish. Top with the shrimp, drizzle over the peanut sauce and scatter over the remaining scallions.
