NEW ENGLAND BAKED HADDOCK

New England Baked Haddock image

New England baked haddock recipe is one of the most delicious fish dishes you will ever have, yet it is so simple! With only three ingredients and 5 minutes of hands-on time, you will have an elegant, crowd-pleasing meal.

Provided by Elizabeth Lindemann

Categories     Seafood

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1-1.5 lbs. haddock (patted dry (or cod))
1 cup plain breadcrumbs (or seasoned, see note)
6 tablespoons salted butter (melted (see notes))
kosher salt and black pepper
lemon wedges and fresh parsley (for serving (optional))

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Put a spoonful of the melted butter in a baking sheet or dish and spread to coat the bottom.
  • Combine the bread crumbs (1 cup) with the rest of the 6 tablespoons of melted butter.
  • Salt and pepper both sides of the fish liberally (I used about 1 teaspoon kosher salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper), and lay in the buttered baking dish.
  • Spread bread crumbs - all of them - evenly over the top of the fish. I use my hands to sprinkle it on (it won't really stick like traditional breading - it's more like a topping).
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until fish is cooked thoroughly (and flakes easily).
  • Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice and a garnish of fresh parsley, if desired.

PANKO PARMESAN BAKED HADDOCK

Panko Parmesan Baked Haddock image

My most popular recipe on the entire blog! This super-easy, protein-packed haddock will win your heart and your taste buds with it's simplicity and flavor.

Provided by Julia Robarts

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup lowfat milk
4 4-oz haddock fillets (about 1# total)
3 tablespoons butter (melted)
salt and pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. Lightly oil an 8x8 baking dish.
  • Combine bread crumbs and cheese in a wide, shallow bowl (I use a pie tin). Pour milk into a separate, small bowl.
  • Dip each fillet into the milk, shake off excess, and then press the fillet into the crumb mixture, turning and pressing to ensure the fish is coated on all sides. Transfer to the baking dish.
  • Pour the melted butter over the fillets. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, as desired. Bake for about 15 minutes (the thicker the fillet, the longer the cooking time). The fish is done when it is firm and flakes easily with a fork.

PANKO-CRUSTED OVEN-FRIED HADDOCK RECIPE
It depends how you define healthy. If you're looking to minimize fat intake, haddock is preferable to salmon. USDA data shows that it has just 3.4 percent of the fat that farmed Atlantic salmon does, and about 7 percent of the fat that wild-caught Atlantic salmon does.. If you're on a keto diet or are prioritizing protein intake, salmon may be a better option.
