STICKY ASIAN GLAZED MEATBALLS



Sticky Asian Glazed Meatballs image

A few simple pantry ingredients combine to make this quick and easy Sticky Asian Glazed Meatballs recipe. It'll be a hit with the whole family!

2 pounds ground pork
1½ teaspoons sesame oil
1 cup plain, dry breadcrumbs
½ teaspoon ground ginger
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 jar (7 oz.) Hoisin sauce
⅓ cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon ground ginger
½-1 teaspoons Sriracha (aka Rooster) sauce
Cooked white rice
thinly-sliced green onions (optional)
sesame seeds (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine all of the meatball ingredients until well mixed. Shape into 1-1½-inch balls. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and cook for 18-20 minutes or until the meat is no longer pink.
  • Meanwhile, combine all of the sauce ingredients in a medium or large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Allow the sauce to boil until it thickens slightly - about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • When the meatballs have finished cooking, stir them into the sauce. Coat well with the sauce.
  • Serve the meatballs over rice. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

2 tablespoons rice vinegar
4 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Asian glazed meatballs are incredibly juicy, tender, and flavorful + tossed with a killer sauce. They are easy to make in just about 30 minutes.

1 lb. ground pork (80-90% lean)
4 green onions (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 large egg
½ cup Panko breadcrumbs
1 tbsp. reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 tsp. sesame oil
1 clove garlic (minced)
¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp. rice vinegar
2 tbsp. honey
½ tbsp. chili paste (Sambal Oelek) (or to taste)
2 tsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. water
sesame seeds
green onions (chopped)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and spray with non-stick spray.
  • Use your hands to mix together the meatball ingredients in a large bowl. Take 1½-2 tablespoons of the meat mixture and roll into a ball. Repeat with the rest of the mixture and arrange on the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping once halfway through. While the meatballs bake, start making the glaze.
  • Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and saute for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and chili paste.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the water and cornstarch. Add to the pot and cook and stir until the sauce is thick. Remove from heat.
  • Once the meatballs are finished baking, add them to the pot with the glaze and toss to evenly coat.
  • Serve topped with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon milk
7 ounces of minced meat
salt
pepper
5 garlic cloves, crushed
2 spring onions s, thinly sliced
¼ cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
0.75 inch - ginger root, peeled and shredded
½ teaspoon chili flakes
¼ cup apricot jam
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F/260 degrees C.
  • Add the breadcrumbs and milk in a small bowl. Mix with a fork.
  • Add the minced meat in a medium bowl.
  • Add salt, pepper, half of the garlic, spring onion, soy sauce, and breadcrumb mixture.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Shape small meatballs and place them on the baking tray.
  • Roast them for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat the olive oil and the sesame oil in a skillet.
  • Add the remaining garlic, ginger root, chili flakes, apricot jam, and hoisin sauce.
  • Stir and simmer until the sauce reduces. Set it aside.
  • Coat the roasted meatballs with this sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds on them.
  • Serve them with a fresh salad and a bowl of rice.

1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup purchased shredded carrot
1/2 cup soft breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon ginger
12 ounces lean ground beef
3/4 cup sesame and ginger marinade or 3/4 cup bottled stir-fry sauce
1/2 cup water
1 small onion, cut into thin wedges
1 (8 ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 medium sweet red pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 cup purchased shredded carrot
hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl combine egg, the 1/4 cup of the carrot, the bread crumbs, ginger, salt and garlic powder. Add meat and mix well. Shape meat mixture into 8 meatballs.
  • In a large skillet cook meatballs over medium heat until brown, turning to brown evenly (meatballs will not be done). Remove meatballs from skillet. Wipe out skillet with paper towels.
  • Add grill sauce and water to skillet, stir to combine. Add onion, drained water chestnuts, sweet red pepper, and the 1/2 cup carrot to skillet; bring to boiling.
  • Return meatballs to skillet. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until meatballs are done.
  • Serve meatballs and sauce with hot cooked rice.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Line 15x10x1-inch pan with foil; spray with cooking spray. In small bowl, mix bread crumbs and milk; let stand about 5 minutes or until milk is absorbed.
  • In medium bowl, mix beef, green onions, bell pepper, garlic, sesame oil, salt, egg and bread crumb mixture. Gently stir, taking care not to compress mixture. Shape mixture into 24 (1 1/4-inch) balls; place in pan. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until internal temperature is at least 165°F.
  • Meanwhile, in 8-inch nonstick skillet, mix 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of the water, the brown sugar, soy sauce and ground ginger over medium heat; heat to simmering. In small bowl, beat remaining 2 tablespoons water and the cornstarch with whisk. Add cornstarch mixture to simmering soy mixture; cook 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove to medium bowl. Add meatballs to bowl; stir gently to coat.
