Ingredients

1 (16 ounce) can applesauce
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups dried breadcrumbs
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1 cup whipping cream, whipped

Steps:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F, then butter a 1 1/2-quart ovenproof dish.
In a bowl, combine applesauce, sugar & vanilla extract.
In the prepared baking dish, lay down alternate layers of breadcrumbs & applesauce, ending with breadcrumbs.
Pour melted margarine over the top & bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Top with dollops of whipped cream & serve hot.

4 cups applesauce
3 cups Zwieback Toast Crumbs
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup white sugar

Steps:

Place sugar and butter in fry pan over med. heat. Stir until partly dissolved. Add crumbs, stirring constantly for several minutes. Place half of applesauce in a loaf pan and add crumb mixture, spreading carefully over applesauce. Place remainder of applesauce on top. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes. Frost with whipped cream and serve.
