1 ½ pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
water
1 tablespoon butter
1 ½ tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
½ cup raw slivered almonds
salt to taste

Steps:

  • Place green beans in a saucepan. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Cook until beans are al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over low heat. Add olive oil and mix thoroughly. Add almond slivers, mix until coated, and spread out evenly in the bottom of the skillet. Stir continuously, until almonds just begin to turn golden brown. Remove almonds to a small bowl and continue stirring for 1 minute until cool enough to taste. Add salt.
  • Pour almonds over green beans and toss to ensure even coating. Serve warm.

1 tablespoon (1 turn around the pan) extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
Salt
Toasted slivered or sliced almonds, for garnish

Steps:

  • Cook green beans 5 minutes in 1-inch boiling water, covered. Drain beans and return pan to heat.
  • Add oil and butter pat to the pan. Toss beans in oil and melted butter. Season beans with a little salt and transfer to a serving plate.
  • Garnish green beans with toasted slivered or sliced almonds.

1 teaspoon light margarine
1/4 cup vegetable broth
1 tablespoon fresh oregano
fresh ground pepper
1 cup frozen pearl onions
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Trim green beans and slice into 2-inch sections.
  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat margarine over medium-high heat.
  • Add green beans and sauté 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly so beans cook evenly.
  • Add broth, oregano, and pepper; sauté for 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Add onions. Cook, covered, over medium-low heat for 6 to 8 minutes, or until beans are tender-crisp.
  • Meanwhile, in a small nonstick pan over medium heat, dry-roast almonds, stirring occasionally, for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Sprinkle bread crumbs and almonds over cooked beans and serve.

1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup Fisher Chef's Naturals Slivered Almonds

Steps:

  • Snap one or both ends of the beans, leaving a whole bean (may cut in half in the middle of the bean).
  • In a large deep skillet add water and bring to a boil.
  • Add beans and quickly simmer (tossing beans frequently) for approximately 3-5 minutes.
  • Drain beans; remove water.

1 ½ ounces slivered almonds
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place beans into a microwave-safe casserole dish with enough water to cover the bottom. Microwave on high power until almost tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain in a colander and refresh under cold running water to keep the nice green color.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add almonds and cook until just starting to turn golden, about 5 minutes, watching closely so as to not burn. Take pan off of heat and add butter to melt. Return to heat and add garlic. Mix in green beans, season with salt and pepper, and continue to stir until heated through, 5 to 7 minutes.
