AIR FRYER PICKLES

Air Fryer Pickles image

Air Fryer Pickles are simply delicious. Made from a few pickles and a simple flavored breading of flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, these pickle spears are crispy on the outside and tasty on the inside!

Provided by Simply Air Fryer

Categories     Appetizers

Time 32m

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 dill pickles
1/4 cup flour
2 large eggs
2/3 cup breadcrumbs, unseasoned
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (more to taste)
avocado oil spray

Steps:

  • First, cut the pickles into quarters lengthwise. Then pat them dry really well with a paper towel.
  • Now prepare the "breading station". Grab three clean and dry plates - place flour on one plate, the cracked and whisked eggs on another, and breadcrumbs on the last plate.
  • Add the spices - salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper - to the breadcrumbs and mix until the spices are well combined in the breadcrumbs.
  • Grab one pickle spear and dip it into the flour. Rotate the pickle until it is fully coated. Next, dip the pickle into the whisked egg mixture and roll it around until the flour layer is fully coated in the egg. Lift the pickle spear, let the excess egg drip off, and then place it on the plate with the breadcrumbs. Roll the pickle around in the breadcrumbs until it is fully coated. Lastly, place the coated pickle spear onto a clean plate and repeat all these steps until all pickle spears are breaded.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • While still on the plate, spray half of the pickles with avocado oil spray.
  • When the air fryer is hot, add the first batch of the breaded pickles. There should be some space between them so that they can cook evenly and get crispy. If you have a really big air fryer, you might be able to cook all pickles at once - otherwise, just cook them in two batches.
  • Cook the pickles for 6 minutes, then flip them over. You can add more oil spray if you want them to be extra crispy. Cook for another 3-4 minutes (so 9-10 minutes total). Every air fryer is different, so cook time can vary slightly.
  • Remove the done pickles from the air fryer. Then spray the second batch of the pickles with oil and place them into the air fryer to cook.
  • Serve the crispy pickles with a dipping sauce like ranch!

1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt, separated
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
1 (12-ounce) jar thick-cut sliced pickles ((such as Nathan's Kosher Dill Chips), drained)
nonstick cooking spray ((Avocado, canola, or vegetable oil preferably in an aerosol can), about 2 tablespoons)

Steps:

  • Have ready three shallow bowls or trays for a dredging station. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 10 minutes.

AIR FRIED PICKLES

Air Fried Pickles image

Love fried pickles? These healthier air fried pickles are coated with seasoned breadcrumbs, and are easy to make at home in your Instant Pot Air Fryer.

Provided by Sarah Trenalone

Categories     Appetizer     Side Dish

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

12 ounces dill pickle chips ((~half a 24oz jar))
3/4 cup unseasoned breadcrumbs or panko breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon ground cayenne
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
spray oil (or olive oil)
1/2 cup plain yogurt (whole milk)
1 tablespoon pickle juice
2 tablespoon ketchup
dash hot sauce

Steps:

  • If using panko breadcrumbs, blitz breadcrumbs in a blender or food processor. Set aside the breadcrumbs. If using regular (finer) breadcrumbs, skip this step.
  • Lay pickles on a paper towel and pat dry.Don't skip this step. If the pickles are wet, the breading won't stick as well.Spray the air fryer basket with oil, or brush with olive oil.
  • Mix together the breadcrumbs, cayenne, garlic, paprika, and salt. One by one, dip the pickle slices in the beaten egg and then in the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure to coat each pickle slice completely with breadcrumbs.Set the coated pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid squishing the pickles together, and do not layer them on top of one another. When the basket has one layer of pickles, add the metal shelf for a second layer, and continue adding coated pickles until the shelf is full.Note: The amount of breadcrumb and pickles are approximate. You may have leftover breadcrumbs, and you may not use exactly 12 oz of pickles (depending on the size of the pickle chips).
  • Preheat the air fryer lid to 400°F. Set the timer for 11 minutes and press start. The display will read "on" while the lid heats up. When it beeps and reads "11 minutes / 400°F," open the lid and add the air fryer basket.About halfway through the cook cycle, the air fryer lid will beep and indicate that you should flip the food. You do not need to flip these pickles, and can ignore the "Turn Food" indicator.
  • While the pickles cook, mix together all the ingredients for the sauce (if using). Taste the sauce. If it's too thick, add more pickle juice. Too thin, add more yogurt. For a spicier sauce, add extra hot sauce.
  • The pickles are done frying when they're golden and crispy.Note that not all air fryers alike, so the exact cook time for your air fryer model may vary.Serve the pickles hot along with the yogurt sauce.

Then dunk them in the buttermilk mixture to completely coat, shaking to remove any excess. Finally, toss them in the panko, pressing gently to make it adhere. Arrange the breaded pickles on the prepared baking sheet and repeat until all the pickles are breaded.
  • Arrange one-third of the breaded pickles in the basket of the air fryer in a single layer. Cook for 8 minutes, the pickles will be very crunchy and browned on both sides. Remove to a serving plate and repeat with the remaining two batches of pickles.

AIR FRYER FRIED PICKLES

Air Fryer Fried Pickles image

My husband can't stop eating these Air Fryer Fried Pickles! They're so easy to make and have the best crispy crunch!

Provided by Aubrey

Categories     Appetizer

Time 28m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 eggs
6 tablespoons cornstarch ((see note))
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup bread crumbs ((regular or panko))
2 cups pickle chips (drained)
Olive oil (for spraying)

Steps:

  • Set up a dredge station by whisking the eggs in a small bowl. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, and pepper. Pour the bread crumbs into another medium bowl or onto a small plate.
  • Pat the pickle chips as dry as possible using paper towels.
  • Coat the pickle chips by dipping them into the seasoned cornstarch, then into the eggs, and finally into the bread crumbs until completely coated. Place onto a plate and repeat with remaining pickles.
  • Spray the basket of your air fryer with olive oil (or other neutral oil).
  • Arrange the pickle chips in a single layer in the basket, making sure they aren't touching. (Touching parts won't crispy up as nicely.) You may need to work in batches depending on the size of the basket.
  • Cook at 390 degrees F for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown. (Depending on your air fryer model, you may want to flip the pickle chips over halfway through cooking.)
  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

  • Mince the chipotle pepper up with a knife and combine all of the ingredients of the chipotle dipping sauce in a small bowl with a whisk. Place it inside the refrigerator until ready to use. (See note about sauce consistency)
  • Remove the pickles from the jar. Blot off the excess juice with paper towels. Cut any pickle spears in half lengthwise that are too thick and over about ½-inch thick. The spears should be uniform in size so that they will cook evenly.
  • Create a breading station for the pickles. You need three deep plates or shallow bowls. Bowl or Plate #1: Combine the bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, sweet paprika, and the cayenne pepper and dried dill (if using) together in a small bowl, until combined. Make sure the seasoning doesn't all fall to the bottom of the bowl.Bowl or Plate #2: Filled with the flour.Bowl or Plate #3: Filled with the beaten egg.
  • First, dip one of the pickle spears into the flour. Flip it over a couple of times to coat well on all sides with a thin layer of flour. Now, dip the flour-coated pickle spear into the egg; coating all sides. Next, dip the flour and egg-coated pickle spear into the seasoned bread crumb mixture. Press the crumb mixture onto the pork chop with your hand to ensure it is coated well. Lay the breaded dill pickle spear onto the air-fryer rack or basket. Repeat this process for the rest of the pickle spears. Make sure the spears are spaced out equally and are not touching each other. Use a rack to make a second layer, if needed.
