SASSY'S SUMMER BERRY CRISP

Sassy's Summer Berry Crisp image

This is a wonderful Summer Dessert. You can use whatever berries you can get your hands on. The combination of the apples and cherries are just awsome! In the summer I serve it with ice cream, as that is a big hit with the kids; both big and small! Don't be scared to mix and match whatever kind of fruit you need to use up. If you don't try, you will never know!!

MIXED BERRY CRISP

Mixed Berry Crisp image

My husband is completely addicted to pies. Unfortunately, it's a little hard to have a whole pie hanging around the house with only two people to eat it. Here's a lighter alternative to a traditional fruit pie. Berries are the best choice for low-carb diets. On top of being low in sugar, they are rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

I love this recipe because it's easy, low-fat, versatile and delicious! The crispy topping is flavored with graham cracker crumbs, cinnamon and almonds and doesn't taste light at all. Great with frozen yogurt or whipped topping. -Janet Elrod, Newnan, Georgia

You will enjoy this delicious, fruity dessert even more when you know it is made without refined sugar or flour! Instead, it's sweetened with honey and apple juice, and uses fiber-rich whole grains as the crunchy complement to ripe summer fruit. Recipe is from Light and Tasty's June/July 2005 issue: I am definitely going to try this one soon.
