MOM'S APPLE CRISP (WEIGHT WATCHERS)
This recipe is from the September/October 2009 Weight Watchers magazine. Now you can have your crisp and eat it too. :) This is Weight Watchers version of the all-American favorite. - Preheat the oven to 375°F Spray a shallow 1-1/2 quart baking dish with nonstick spray.
- To make the topping, combine the 1/2 cup flour, the oats, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl. With a pastry blender or 2 knives used scissor-fashion, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the water and firmly press mixture to form clumps.
- To make the filling, mix the granulated sugar, the 2 tablespoons flour, the nutmeg, and cloves in a large bowl. Add the apples and vanilla; mix well. Transfer to the baking dish. Sprinkle the topping over the filling. Bake until the filling is bubbling and the topping is golden, 55 - 60 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

APPLE CRISP
Try this moreish apple crisp. 'Crisp' is the American version of a crumble, with the topping a mix between a nutty flapjack and a traditional British crumble.

Steps:
- Put all the topping ingredients and a pinch of sea salt in a bowl and rub together with your fingers until combined into a crumb-like texture - this can also be done in a food processor. Chill until needed. Will keep chilled for up to two days.
- Toss the apples with the sugar and lemon zest and juice until evenly coated, and tip into a 23cm round baking dish that's at least 5cm deep, or a 20cm square dish. Flatten down with your hand and scatter over the topping. Will keep covered and chilled for a day.
- Heat the oven to 190C/170C fan/ gas 5. Sit the crisp on a baking tray and bake for 40 mins until the topping is a deep golden and the fruit is bubbling at the edges. Leave to cool for 10 mins, then serve with ice cream or custard.

- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Place apples in a buttered 2-quart casserole dish.
- Sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice.
- In a small bowl, combine rolled oats, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon.
- Using a pastry blender, cut butter into mixture until the mixture is crumbly.
- Sprinkle over the apples.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until apples are tender.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven 400' 2. Fill 8x8" glass dish with apples 3. Sprinkle cinnamon, pour water over apples 4. In big bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, oats, soft butter -- cut butter in with a knife/fork, add cinnamon and ginger powder 5. Sprinkle mixture over apples. 6. Bake at 400' x 25 mins, then 300' x 20 mins.
