Steps:
- Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk milk and eggs; pour over flour mixture, and whisk gently to combine (don't overmix). Gently whisk in butter.
- Following manufacturer's instructions, cook waffles until deep brown and crisp. (For a standard waffle iron, pour a generous 1/2 cup of batter into center, spreading to within 1/2 inch of edges, and close; waffle will cook in 2 to 3 minutes.) Serve warm, with maple syrup and butter, as desired.

Steps:
- In a large mixing bowl, lightly beat eggs. Add milk, maple syrup, olive oil, vanilla, baking powder and salt; whisk until well combined. Add whole wheat flour, mix well.
- Preheat waffle maker. If your waffle maker is cast iron you might have to spray it with cooking spray to prevent waffles from sticking but maybe not since batter has enough oil. Try one and see how it comes out.
- Make waffles according to your waffle maker's instructions. Amount of batter depends on the size of your waffle maker. I used about 1/3 cup batter per waffle. For crispier waffles, I also cook a bit past the green Ready indicator.

- In a small bowl, whisk the brown sugar and yeast into the lukewarm water and let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes. In the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle, mix the flour with the salt. Make a well in the center of the bowl and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix at medium speed until shaggy, about 1 minute. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing for 20 seconds between each. Whisk the vanilla with the 1 cup of melted butter. With the mixer at medium-low, gradually mix in the butter until smooth; the batter will be thick and very sticky. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the batter rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 250°. Preheat a Belgian waffle iron and brush it with melted butter. Gently stir the batter to deflate. Using about 2 tablespoons of batter for each, cook the waffles according to the manufacture's directions until they are golden and crisp; brush the waffle iron with melted butter as needed. Transfer the waffles to plates or keep them warm in the oven, then serve.

THESE ARE THE BEST FROZEN WAFFLES—YEP, WE TRIED 9 — EAT ...
From eatthis.com
- Julian's Recipe Maple Belgian Pastry Waffles. If you're looking for a waffle that's more of a dessert than a breakfast, you can't go wrong with these thick, fluffy Belgian ones.
- Trader Joe's Gluten-Free Toaster Waffles. Even though these were gluten-free, our tasters loved their texture, and of course their sweet taste.
- Birch Benders Buttermilk Frozen Toaster Waffles. These waffles earned points for their appearance and sweet flavor. The golden-brown treats look like they were just baked; one tester described them as "very pastry-like."
- Nature's Path Organic Gluten-Free Homestyle Waffles. These waffles were a bit sweeter than some of the other options, which gained favor in our editors' eyes.
- Market Pantry Homestyle Waffles. This was another divisive waffle contender for our editors. One staffer ranked this Target brand first, writing that she tried the waffle without any toppings and it "still had a buttery flavor."
- 365 Organic Homestyle Waffles. One of our editors wrote that these waffles had a "spongey texture," but she liked that about them.
- Vans Gluten-Free Original Waffles. These waffles earned points with our tasters for their texture, but the taste still left something to be desired.
- Off the Grid Vanilla Buttermilk Waffles. The vanilla taste of these waffles was overwhelming for some of our editors. "Vanilla is overpowering," wrote one editor.
- Eggo Homestyle Waffles. The Eggo waffles didn't maintain a crunchy exterior after toasting. One taster wrote that these waffles were "kind of rubbery," while another wrote that they were "very limp."
ARE EGGO WAFFLES HEALTHY? 8 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW – I AM ...
From iamgoingvegan.com
- What Are Eggo Waffles Made Of? Let’s start by looking at the actual ingredients found in Eggo waffles. Then we can assess if they are “processed food” or not.
- Are Eggo Waffles Processed Food? Eggo waffles are processed food. Other than water, the main ingredients in most Eggo waffles flavors are white flour, vegetable oil, and sugar.
- Are Eggo Waffles Good For Weight Loss? Eggo waffles are probably not the best choice for weight loss. Eggo waffles are mainly processed carbs, without much fiber, so they’re not likely to keep you feeling full and satisfied in a calorie deficit.
- Are Eggo Waffles High in Carbs and Sugar? Eggo waffles have around 30 grams of carbs in each two-waffle serving. The amount of sugar varies by flavor, from 2g to 9g in the flavors we checked.
- Are Eggo Waffles High in Cholesterol? Eggo waffles have 5mg of dietary cholesterol in each two-waffle serving. This is only 2% of the Daily Value for dietary cholesterol, or about 3% of the cholesterol in one large egg.
- Are Eggo Waffles High in Fiber? Eggo waffles are low in fiber, with less than 1 gram of fiber in a typical two-waffle serving. Whole grain waffles often have over four times as much fiber.
- Are Eggo Waffles High in Sodium? Eggo waffles have around 350 to 370mg in each two-waffle serving. This is about 15% of the Daily Value for sodium (2,300 mg).
- Are Eggo Waffles Vegan? Eggo waffles are not vegan. They contain both eggs and dairy ingredients. If you want vegan frozen waffles, I recommend checking out Van’s.
