Open faced sandwich full of home cooked comfort. Makes for a nice small plate, or when you are only hungry enough for just a sandwich, but want warm homestyle food. TNT

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 ounces moist roasted turkey (may use roast beef, roast pork, or roast chicken as well)
1/2 cup mashed potatoes
1 slice soft white bread (such as Wonder bread)
1 cup turkey gravy (or gravy appropriate to your meat choice)

Steps:

  • Place bread on plate.
  • Top with hot mashed potatoes and hot turkey over that.
  • Cover all with gravy.
  • Serve.

My husband along with my sister and her husband went to the Amish Community in Sarasota, Fl to eat at "Yoders" run by the Amish. It is a retirement community. Most of them have returned to their homes, but some stay year around. I had a Turkey Manhattan.

2 large slices of turkey
1 scoop of homemade mashed potatoes
homemade chicken gravy

Steps:

  • 1. Place bread on a dinner plate, turkey on top, a scoop of potatoes and smother it with gravy. ****you can do this with roast beef too.
