ASIAN SESAME DRESSING

Asian Sesame Dressing image

A fantastic standby dressing to have on hand because it keeps for 3 weeks! Use this Asian dressing for leafy green salads, Asian slaws, noodle salads and chopped salads. It's also a terrific dressing to make steamed vegetables so much tastier. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh sesame seeds and sliced greens onions!

Provided by Nagi | RecipeTin Eats

Categories     Salad

Time 3m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1/4 cup white vinegar ((adjust to taste for sharpness))
1/4 cup olive oil ((Note 1))
1 tbsp sugar ((any type) or 1 1/2 tbsp honey)
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil ((Note 1))
1 tsp sugar ((any type) or 1 1/2 tsp honey)

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in a jar and shake well until sugar is dissolved. Adjust saltiness with salt and sweetness with sugar to taste.
  • Keep for up to 3 weeks, in the fridge (to be safe). Bring to room temp and shake well before use.
  • Single serving batch is enough for 3 - 4 cups of shredded cabbage / leafy greens i.e. a side salad for 4 people.
  • Big batch - my rule of thumb for how much dressing to use is generally 1 tbsp of dressing per 1 packed cup of shredded vegetables and 2 tsp per handful of leafy greens.

ASIAN TOASTED SESAME DRESSING

Asian Toasted Sesame Dressing image

Provided by Katie Kimball

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 Tbs. apple cider vinegar
2-3 Tbs. soy sauce
1 Tbs. sesame oil (optional) plus extra virgin olive oil (use the code STEWARDSHIP for 10% off at that site!) to make 1/2 cup
2 tsp. sesame seeds, toasted*
2 cloves garlic
1/4 tsp. ginger

Steps:

  • Whisk apple cider vinegar, olive oil, optional sesame oil and soy sauce.
  • Whiz the garlic and toasted sesame seeds in a mini-food processor until garlic is in small pieces.
  • Combine and enjoy!
  • *To toast sesame seeds, put them on a dry cookie sheet in the toaster oven and toast on light once or twice until lightly browned and aromatic. No toaster oven? You could certainly use a regular oven on low heat - just watch the closely every few minutes to make sure they don't burn. I'm thinking you could also put them in a hot, dry pan and stir constantly until browned, but I haven't tried that myself.

ASIAN SESAME DRESSING

Asian Sesame Dressing image

My daughters and I had dinner at a Hu Hot restaurant awhile back. They have a wonderful Asian Sesame Dressing. I also bought an Asian Toasted Sesame Dressing by Kraft that is really good. I'm going to post two recipes I found on the internet to try. I sure hope one of them will be close to Kraft's or Hu Hot's recipe.
