These are thicker than the original Kelloggs bars. The Kelloggs recipe uses 3 T. butter, 6 cups krispies, and about 40 marshmallows..(10 ounces).

Ingredients

9 c rice krispies
1/4 c butter, melted
75 large marshmallows

Steps:

1. In a large heavy bottom pan, melt butter and add marshmallows over low to medium heat.
2. Stir constantly until completely melted.
3. Remove from heat. Add rice krispies and stir until completely coated with marshmallows. At this point you may stir in chopped peanuts. I do.
4. Spread into greased 9x13 pan. Cut and enjoy.

1/4 cup margarine
16 ounces marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups Rice Krispies (generic works fine)

Steps:

Melt margarine in a large pan over medium heat.
Melt in marshmallows and stir continuously until smooth.
Add vanilla (be careful it doesn't splash on you).
Without removing from heat, add cereal. Stir until cereal is completely covered with marshmallow mixture.
Pour into a greased (spray Pam works great) 9x13 pan. Let cool 2 minutes. Press flat with greased hands. Cool completely and cut into squares. Enjoy!

Line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside. (Feel free to use foil, if you'd prefer. Just don't forget to grease the foil very well with butter!)
Melt the butter in a large pot, over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until they melt. Remove from the heat and stir in the cereal until well coated. (If desired, add the additional marshmallows now.)
Scoop the sticky cereal mixture onto the prepared pan. Lightly wet your hands (or butter them, if you're like me) and gently press the cereal out across the pan, taking care not to press too hard and compact them. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Store in an airtight container for several days. Enjoy!

For super thick Rice Krispie Treats, our favorite, grease an 8x8-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. For regular Rice Krispie Treats, grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set pan aside.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the 16 oz bag of marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted. Don't over cook or the marshmallows will get hard.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla (if using) and the sea salt. Add the cereal and gently stir until the cereal is well coated with the marshmallows. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows.
Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly press the mixture into the pan, using a greased spatula. You can also lightly grease your hands and press the mixture into the pan. If you are using an 8x8-inch pan the mixture will completely fill the pan and that is ok.
