THE BEST BARBECUE SAUCE PERIOD
After being disgusted with super-syrupy bottled sauces full of HFCS I set out to create the greatest tomato-based BBQ sauce the world has ever known. Super tangy and full of meat-enhancing (not covering) flavor, this sauce is loved by everyone who tries it. What's great is that by changing amounts of, adding or omitting ingredients, you can make it your own! Don't even think about that terrible liquid smoke! Try some chipotle powder or one or two chipotles in adobo. It will also add some heat. For a Kansas City style sauce, omit the molasses, reduce the vinegar and add some heat like cayenne. Also, if you prefer you can use fresh garlic and onion. This sauce gets better and mellows once it's had a chance to sit a few days in the fridge and it cans well if you're into preserving. It's great as a finishing sauce for beef, pork or chicken, or as a meatloaf glaze. Of course everyone will rave when you serve it on the side or mixed into baked beans. If you omit the Worcestershire sauce (anchovies) this recipe is vegan. This recipe is easily halved.

A VERY POPULAR BBQ SAUCE
This recipe has a lot of sweetness and spice, so if you're looking for a classic BBQ sauce that's easy to make, look no further. It is very popular with users of 'ceramic' type smokers and grills, (i.e. Primo, Kamado, Big Green Egg, etc.)

THE WORLDS BEST BARBECUE SAUCE
This sauce is great for chicken or ribs, and can even be used in place of ketchup on your fries and burgers. It's really good for making chicken wings. I'm sure this sauce could be used in a lot of other dishes and recipes; just use your imagination. It is sweet with a bit of zip. It keeps well in the refrigerator.

SIMPLE BARBECUE SAUCE
Smoked paprika is the secret weapon in this simple barbecue sauce, which goes beautifully with pork and chicken. If you're painting the sauce onto cooking meat, thin it out with water to about a one-to-one ratio, which will keep the sugars from burning too quickly over the fire. Serve the full-strength stuff alongside the finished meat.

- Great Value Original Barbecue Sauce (Walmart) Score: 56. We did not see this one coming. We would never have predicted that the house brand for the mega-chain where you can buy both a grill itself and the stuff to put on it would be where we’d find our winner.
- (tie) Head Country Bar-B-Q Sauce Original. Score: 50. This brand was a little thinner than the pack and delivered a bit of welcome heat, which seemed a rarity in this tame bunch.
- (tie) Kraft Original Barbeque Sauce. Score: 50. Advertisement. Tasters thought this sauce brought a lot of flavor to the barbecue party. Several detected fruity notes in the complex, smoky blend.
- Sticky Fingers Memphis Original. Score: 49. Many tasters dug the strong pepper notes in this blend. “Decent spice that lingers on the palate,” one taster enthused.
- KC Masterpiece. Score: 48. This one might be the sweetest of the bunch, which some people liked. “Might be too sweet for some,” one fan acknowledged.
