This is my gram's recipe. Sounds odd, but has a great taste. I love it because it takes only 5 minutes to make and because my kids devour it. (Gotta love tater tots)! It's great served with a green salad or fruit. Great for potlucks too.

1 1/2 lbs raw lean ground beef
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 cups frozen peas
1 1/2 lbs frozen tater tots
6 -8 slices American cheese
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Lightly grease a 9 x 13 pan (makes cleanup easier).
  • Spread beef in bottom of pan.
  • Salt and pepper.
  • Cover with the can of soup; spread evenly.
  • Layer the frozen peas over the meat and soup.
  • Arrange tater tots in rows over the casserole.
  • Cover and bake at 375 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Uncover and add slices of American cheese to top of casserole.
  • Bake uncovered for 15- 20 minutes, till cheese is brown and casserole is hot and bubbly.

One 16-ounce bag frozen Tater Tots®
Butter, for the baking dish
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound spicy bulk breakfast sausage
1 medium onion, very finely diced
1 cup milk
1/2 cup half-and-half
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
4 large eggs
1 red bell pepper, very finely diced
1 green bell pepper, very finely diced
2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
1 cup grated pepper jack cheese
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Line up the tater tots in a buttered 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  • Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and onion and cook, breaking the sausage up with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, 8 to 10 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly, then sprinkle it over the tater tots.
  • In a large bowl, mix the milk, half-and-half, seasoned salt, cayenne, eggs, bell peppers, half of both cheeses and some salt and pepper. Pour over the tots and sausage mixture, then top with the rest of the cheese. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Bake, covered, for about 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue to bake until the cheese is brown and bubbly and the casserole is cooked through, another 20 to 35 minutes. Cut into squares and serve.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a 13x9-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • Spread 20 potato nuggets in the casserole dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven until warmed through, about 10 minutes.

⅓ c milk

8 slices of bacon (chopped)
1 cup chopped yellow onion
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. flour
1 ¼ cups milk (plus 2 Tbsp., divided)
3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (divided)
¾ cup sour cream (divided)
1 cup chopped scallions (divided)
1 32 oz package frozen tater tots (divided)
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh chives
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh dill
Pinch kosher salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Add bacon to a Dutch oven over medium heat.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove bacon with a slotted spoon; place bacon on a paper towel.
  • Discard all but 2 Tbsp. bacon grease from pan (reserve extra for another use).
  • Add onion to bacon grease in pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add butter to pan; let melt.
  • Stir flour into butter and onions. Cook, stirring, 2 minutes.
  • Stir in 1 ¼ cups milk until combined. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in 1 ½ cups cheese, ½ cup sour cream, and ½ cup scallions.
  • Stir in half of frozen tater tots; transfer mixture to a 13x9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining tater tots, bacon, and cheese.
  • Bake until bubbly, about 35 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes.
  • Stir together remaining ¼ cup sour cream, 2 tablespoons milk, chives, dill, and salt, and pepper in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Sprinkle remaining ½ cup scallions over casserole; drizzle with homemade ranch.

15 ounces canned mixed vegetables
10 ounces cream of chicken soup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Dash of hot sauce
2 cups shredded cheddar
16 ounces frozen tater tots

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic to a large skillet and cook, breaking the meat up as it cooks, until the beef is cooked through. Drain the fat and add the beef mixture to a large mixing bowl.

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef and drain fat. Stir in condensed cream of mushroom soup, skim milk, garlic salt and green beans. Pour the mixture into a medium-sized casserole dish and layer with the tater tots.

1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
1 tsp garlic pepper
8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
1 pkg tater tots, large bag

Steps:

  • 1. Directions: Brown ground beef or turkey. Drain.
  • 2. Add cream of mushroom soup, undiluted. Add garlic pepper.
  • 3. Spread out in a large baking dish. I use a round 12x8 corningware dish. Top with cheese. Starting at the edge, lay tater tots side by side to make a ring. When you complete the first ring, start a second one inside the first. continue this pattern until you completely top the casserole.
  • 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown and heated through. I then switch the oven to broil and it gives the tater tots an extra crisp.

Two 10-ounce cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 pound frozen potato tots

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Add the oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and beginning to brown, about 15 minutes. Add the beef to the onions and cook until the meat is brown, stirring and scraping the bottom of the skillet to release the yummy brown bits, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the beef and onion mixture from the skillet into a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Scatter the green beans and corn evenly on top. Spread the cream of mushroom soup over top and top with frozen potato tots. Bake uncovered for 1 hour; the potato tots should be golden brown. Serve.
