SYLVIA'S HOT AND SPICY MEATLOAF

Thought I would try something different for a meatloaf, and threw these ingredients together and it was a hit with my family.

1 lb extra lean ground beef
1 large carrot, grated
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 egg
1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs (may need a little more)
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes, to taste

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together and combine well.
  • Place into a lightly sprayed loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until done.
  • Serve with green beans and mashed potatoes.

This is a really tasty meatloaf - especially if you like things a little spicy. It came from my mother-in-law, we have it often. You need to cook it in a oversized tin, so you have room for the sauce.

1 onion
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon curry powder
salt (to taste, depends how salty the sausage meat is)
pepper (to taste)
1/2 cup water
500 g minced beef
500 g sausage meat
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup tomato sauce (ketchup)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon instant coffee
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Chop onion finely.
  • In a bowl, combine onion, minced beef, sausage meat, breadcrumbs, curry powder, egg, salt and pepper.
  • Mix well, then mix in milk and water.
  • Put into a lightly greased loaf tin and bake at 180C for about 1 hour.
  • In the meantime make the sauce - place all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • After the loaf has cooked for an hour, remove it from the oven and drain off the fat.
  • Pour the sauce over and cook for a further 30 minutes, basting frequently.

I first had this at a church supper. It was delicious and asked for the recipe. I was amazed to see that there were not many ingredients in it. I now make this one and alternate it with my regular one Recipe #102545. The Sweet & Spicy Meatloaf has only a few ingredients and is delicious, and my regular one has more in it, but is delicious too. This has a nice sauce on top. I always thought that if there were more ingredients in a meatloaf, it would taste better, but not necessarily so. This is very,very tasty!

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb hamburger
1 cup fresh homemade breadcrumbs
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup catsup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Steps:

  • Mix the hamburg, bread crumbs, milk, onion, salt, and pepper together.
  • Make into a loaf and place in a 9x13 pan.
  • Set the oven for 350 degrees.
  • SAUCE: Mix the catsup, brown sugar, and dry mustard together.
  • Put half of the sauce on the meatloaf and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Get rid of any grease.
  • Put the rest of the sauce on and bake for another 25 minutes (total of 45 minutes).
  • Let sit for about 10 minutes.

I was sitting around the house trying to figure out what to make and meatloaf came to mind, so I just through some things together and it turned out wonderful.

1 -1 1/2 lb ground deer meat (i used venison)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup thick cinnamon applesauce
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 red bell pepper (chopped)
1 green bell pepper (chopped)
2 jalapenos (chopped)
salt and pepper (to flavor)
1/8 cup raspberry jam
1/8 cup strawberry jam
1/2 jalapeno (chopped)
1/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup red wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 BAKE 1 HOUR.
  • add burger, bread crumbs, apple sauce, onion, bell peppers, jalapeño, and salt & pepper to large bowl and mix together well with hands then transfer to a bread pan or 9 x 9 pan.
  • For the sauce mix all ingred together and pour over meatloaf and bake for 1 hours.

This meatloaf is a MUST for spicy food lovers! My husband has me make this for him once a week he loves it so much!

1 lb ground beef
8 crackers, of choice crushed (i prefer toasted onion flavor)
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 cup diced red onion
1/2 cup hot and spicy barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • Mix ground beef with all ingredients except for half of the barbeque sauce.
  • Bake in oven at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  • Put remainder of barbeque sauce on top of meatloaf.
  • Put back into oven and cook additional 10 minutes.

SAVORY SPICY MEATLOAF AND SAUCE

I modified this recipe from my mom's original. This recipe uses steak sauces, so it's more flavorful than regular versions, I think. And the sauce uses the same ingredients as the meatloaf recipe, so you just need to get everything out once! Feel free to adjust the spices to your tastes, and the measurements are what I guesstimate them to be. I just eyeball it, and you can too. I'd say this yields about 5-6 slices, or 2-3 servings for 2 people. This is the first recipe I've posted, so sorry if it's a little disorganized. Enjoy!

1 egg
1/4 cup diced onion
1/2 cup steak sauce (I use A-1)
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup breadcrumbs

2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup steak sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine meat, egg, onion, and spices.
  • Mix with hands until.
  • Add sauces and mix again with your hands.
  • Place meatloaf in an ungreased, nonstick metal baking pan, in a loaf shape.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine all sauce ingredients in a small saucepan.
  • Bring contents to a boil, then reduce to a simmer while the meatloaf cooks.
  • After the 25 minutes, brush meatloaf with sauce and bake 5 more minutes.

This recipe adds a zing to the word "Meatloaf"! It is sooooooo GOOD! Great with Mexican Rice, and Mexicorn for a delicous meal!

2 lbs ground beef
1 slice bread, crumbled
1 small onion, tiny diced
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup texas pete's buffalo style chicken wing barbecue sauce
1/4 cup A.1. Original Sauce
1/4 cup hot jalapeno jelly
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup yellow mustard

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350.
  • Mix ground beef and bread crumbs together, and mix well.
  • Add onion, ketchup, barbecue sauce, and A-1 sauce, and mix well.
  • Shape into a rectangle, and put into a 9x13" pan.
  • Mix Sauce ingredients together, and pour on top of meatloaf.
  • Bake for 1 hours 15 mins., or until done.
