I promise your whole family will love this recipe. Not to spicy and not to sweet. It is just right. My family are always wanting me to make this. If you love Chinese food then you will love this.

2 Tbsp brown sugar
1/4 c hot sauce
2 Tbsp oil
1/4 c honey
1/2 c soy sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp chopped ginger root
1 1/2 Tbsp chopped garlic
8 boneless skinless chicken breast

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, ginger root, garlic and hot sauce. Set aside.
  • 2. Cut boneless chicken breast into bite size pieces or 1/2 inch thick strips. ( whichever you prefer )
  • 3. Season the cut chicken with salt and pepper.
  • 4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add chicken and brown on both sides about 2 minutes per side.
  • 5. Pour the sauce over the chicken and simmer covered until the sauce thickens about 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with rice.

salt and pepper
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons of chopped gingerroot
1 1/2 tablespoons of chopped garlic
8 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1/2 thick strips

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and hot sauce in a small bowl and set aside.
  • 2. Lightly salt and pepper the chicken strips.
  • 3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken strips and brown on both sides about 2 minutes each side. Pour the sauce over the chicken. Simmer uncovered 10 - 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve with rice and vegetable of your choice.

1/2 to 2/3 cup honey
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (or regular or rice vinegar)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed (light or dark)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 to 4 tablespoons chili garlic sauce, to taste (I used 3 heaping tablespoons and there was a nice kick; reduce to 1 tablespoon or less if you're very sensitive to spicy foods)
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup corn starch, for dredging
1.25 to 1.50 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
3 to 4 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch + 2 tablespoons cold water
green onions, sliced thin; optional for garnishing
sesame seeds, optional for garnishing

Steps:

  • To a medium bowl, add all the ingredients, and whisk to combine; set aside.
  • Add the egg to a small bowl, the flour to a separate shallow bowl, and the 1/3 cup corn starch to another shallow bowl.
  • Add the chicken to the egg bowl (I add it all at once and smoosh it around with my fingers), pick it up and transfer it to the flour bowl and coat it with flour (doesn't have to be 100% completely and perfectly coated), pick it up and transfer it to the corn starch bowl and coat it with corn starch.
  • To a large skillet, add the oil, add the chicken, and cook over medium to medium-high heat for about 7 minutes, or until the chicken is seared, lightly browned on the outside, and cooked through.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, add the sauce to the skillet, and stir to combine.
  • In a small bowl, add 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch, 2 tablespoons of cold waer, and stir to combine. This is called a slurry. Add the slurry to the skillet and stir to combine.
  • Stir the sauce nearly continuously for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened up as much as desired, allowing it to boil gently as your stir.
  • Optionally, evenly garnish with green onions and/or sesame seeds and serve immediately. Chicken will keep airtight in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 4 months.

1 skinless cooked chicken breast
3 spring onions
½ red pepper , stalk and seeds removed
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil and/or 1 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp runny honey
150g egg noodles
handful of coriander (optional)

Steps:

  • Pull the chicken into strips, then cut it into chunks small enough to pick up on a fork. Put in a large bowl.
  • Use your scissors to snip the hairy root ends off the spring onions and throw away. Snip the rest of the spring onion into pieces. Add to the chicken.
  • Use scissors or a small knife to cut the pepper into strips and then pieces. Like the chicken you want the pieces to be small enough to pick up.
  • Measure the soy sauce, sesame oil (or seeds) and honey into the bowl, mix together. Ask a grown-up helper to cook the noodles at the same time.
  • Tip the hot noodles into the bowl and mix everything together with a large spoon or pair of tongs.
  • Divide the noodles between 2 bowls and add some fresh coriander to each one, if you like it.
