Number Of Ingredients 16

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons grated orange zest
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup orange juice
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
ICING:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
2 tablespoons orange juice

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, orange zest, baking powder and baking soda. In a small bowl, whisk water, orange juice, egg, butter and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in walnuts., Transfer to greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely., In a small bowl, combine icing ingredients. Drizzle over bread.

Since I live in the "Sunshine State," I just had to share this delicious muffin recipe that utilizes juice from our most famous crop---oranges. These muffins are a must when any of our "Yankee" friends come to visit. -Sharyn Browning, Loxahatchee, Florida

Number Of Ingredients 12

1-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1-2/3 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter, melted
3 large eggs, beaten
2/3 cup fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 tablespoon orange marmalade
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine flours, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add remaining ingredients; stir just until moistened (batter may be lumpy). Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until top of muffin springs back when lightly touched.

1/4 cup buckwheat flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups bread flour
1 packet yeast
3 tablespoons rolled oats
1/4 cup golden raisin
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup cashews, chopped
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds, shelled

Steps:

  • In bowl, mix together all flours, cinnamon, salt, yeast,oats, and sage.
  • Add liquid& dry ingredients to bread machine per your machines instuctions,.
  • Set machine on light whole wheat cycle.
  • At first beep, add both kinds of raisens and nuts.
  • Wait-- enjoy!

Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook another minute until fragrant. Turn the heat up to high and add the diced tomatoes, white wine, Natalie’s tomato juice, seafood stock, bay leaf, parsley sprigs, thyme sprig, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Bring to a boil then lower to a simmer and cover the pot. Simmer 15-20 minutes to let the flavors meld. Then uncover the pot and stir in the mussels, fish and shrimp. Cover the pot and cook until seafood is cooked through and mussels are open, about 5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley and dill fronds. Serve with plenty of crusty bread on the side for dipping.
