SUNMAID BREAKFAST BARS
Was sure these would have been posted to ZAAR, but I haven't found them yet! These are great tasting bars for breakfast or anytime of day! Toasted wheat germ can be substituted for the granola, & margarine can be used instead of the butter. [NOTE -- As of 23 Apr 08, bowing to reviewers' comments, I've changed the # of servings from 16 to 9!]

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, & grease an 8" square baking dish.
- Whisk together the flour, granola, sugar, baking powder & cinnamon.
- Stir in butter, honey, egg & vanilla, & mix well.
- Stir in raisins & walnuts, then press mixture into the greased pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned.
- Cool & cut into bars.

- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square pan. Combine flour, wheat germ, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon. Stir in margarine, honey, egg and vanilla mix well. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Press mixture firmly into greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.

BLACKBERRY BREAKFAST BARS

Steps:
- For filling, in a medium saucepan combine berries, sugar, water, lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for about 8 minutes or till slightly thickened, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
- In a mixing bowl stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and baking soda. Stir in melted margarine till thoroughly combined. Set aside 1 cup of the oat mixture for topping. Press remaining oat mixture into an ungreased 9x9x2" pan. Bake in a 350 oven for 20-25 minutes.
- Carefully spread filling on top of baked crust. Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture. Lightly press oat mixture into filling.
- Bake in the 350 oven for 20-25 minutes more or till topping browns.
- Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

WHOLE GRAIN BREAKFAST BARS

Steps:
- Bring 5 cups water to a boil, add lentils, reduce to a slow boil until just soft, approximately 20 minute Drain and rinse under cold water.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl combine and mix together well, flours, oats, sugar, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Stir in Craisins, almonds and ginger.
- In medium bowl combine and gently stir together melted butter, applesauce, eggs, lentils and vanilla.
- Add the wet mixture to the dry and stir until just combined.
- Place mixture in a greased 9" x 13" baking pan and gently press mixture to make an even layer.
- Bake at 350° for 35-40 minute or until cooked through. Let cool completely and cut into bars.
- Melt chocolate chips in microwave or double-boiler, stir until smooth and frost the bars as you wish.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Grease a 9 inch by 13 inch pan, or two 8 inch by 8 inch pans.
- Combine all ingredients in bowl and mix well.
- It should be moist enough to form a ball, without extra liquid.
- Put mixture in prepared pans and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cut into squares while still hot.
- Wait until the bars cool before trying to remove them from the pan.
- One tip: if the fruit is hard, soak it with a bit of water before starting to make this recipe because the fruit doesn't soften much in baking.
