- Add the watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, sugar and lime juice to a blender and blend to a fine puree. Divide the mixture among eight 8-ounce freezer-safe pots/containers with plastic lids. Freeze for 4 hours to rock solid, 3 hours if you want them a little slushy.
SOUTHWEST SUMMERTIME COOLER (ORANGE-MINT ICED TEA)
A cold, refreshing drink for hot summer afternoons. Mint iced tea & orange juice, sweetened with honey. Great for both kids and adults, so it's nice to keep on hand for summer entertaining or just for the family. Prep time doesn't include the time it takes for the tea to get cold.

Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, bring 1 quart water to a boil.
- Remove from heat, and while water is still bubbling, add tea bags and 1/4 cup mint.
- Cover and let steep 8 minutes, then remove and discard tea bags and mint.
- Put remaining quart of cold water into a large pitcher or insulated jug.
- Add hot tea to cold water.
- Let cool to room temperature.
- Add orange juice, honey, and mint sprigs, and mix well.
- Store in refrigerator & serve over ice.

- Dark Leafy Greens. Professor and food scientist at Washington State University, Barry Swanson, states that dark leafy greens are composed of 80 – 95 percent water, which makes them very easy to digest.
- Peppers. Spicy peppers and spicy foods in general can make you sweat, which triggers cooling mechanisms (evaporative cooling) within the body. Professor Swanson says, “It doesn’t cool you to the core, but it cools the skin.”
- Berries. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and cranberries are all very alkaline, yin fruits. They generate a cold energy in the body according to traditional Chinese Medicine.
- Sea Vegetables. Kombu, nori, wakame, arame, and sea palm are all superb sea vegetables to include in your daily summer fare. They are high in calcium, iron, phosphorous, and trace minerals and vitamins.
- Bananas. Bananas are sweet in taste and cold in nature. They are able to clear intestinal “heat,” adding moisture and eliminating toxins. Dispelling these toxins can lessen the effects of fungal or bacterial infected skin diseases.
- Avocado. Avocados are the fruits that are highest in monounsaturated fatty acids content at 20 percent, nourishing the yin in the blood. About 80 percent of its caloric content is easily digested, especially among other fats.
